OK, looks like I finally solved the mystery with rex auth avatars not
working. The problem is not in avatar storage itself, it is with
authentication. May be something is wrong with auth server giving
avatar storage url to naali.

Solution that works: use 0.4 authentication server, not just 0.4
avatar storage. Just tested this combination and everything works just
fine. 0.5 servers are not working with naali. So, for now,  everyone
who wants avatar storage on server can download and use 0.4 rex
servers.

Storing avatar to webdav still does not work for me, but at least I
found a resonable workaround
