alright, i commented out the HWADDR line, it made absolutly no difference. i did the grep command, and this is what i got:

in network configuration, on the hardware tab, i click edit for the card, and theres a whole bunch of blank stuff, like IRQ, memory, i/o...
should those be filled in?
