Well, you could try this:

# rpm -ihv php-4.2.2-17.i386.rpm --force --nodeps

S/SRPMS/php-4.3.3-2.src.rpm
> sudo rpmbuild --rebuild php-4.3.3-2.src.rpm
> sudo rpm -ivh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/php*

i got the rpm from tedhat. i get this:

# rpm -ihv php-4.2.2-17.i386.rpm --force
error: Failed dependencies:
        libcrypto.so.4 is needed by php-4.2.2-17
        libssl.so.4 is needed by php-4.2.2-17

my openssl is newer then these....
