I just got my cd player to work, after I realized i forgot to plug the sound
card into the cd or vice versa...........any way
I use gnome cd and I have it so the device the cdplayer uses is /dev/cdrom
try chmod a+r /dev/cdrom
then in your cd player setting set it to /dev/cdrom as device...
