This has probably (assuredly) been discussed before, and I don't want to
bore people, but... Here I go anyway. :-)

I am mostly a Mac user - have been for over 12 years now. The last year or
so I have been almost exclusively using OS X, and find it great for the work
I do: programming, a lot of web work, etc.

But I really don't like the way Apple treats its customers. The latest
debacle regarding the upgrade to X 10.2 and the iTools mess are both well
known. I just don't like having my hardware and OS completely at the mercy
of one company - Apple. There is a decided lack of *choice*. And I have
never understood why some people feel "warm and fuzzy" about Apple.

So I am trying Linux again, as I do every once in a while.

The specific question I have for people is this:

"Are there particular applications or peripherals you use, or would like
to use, that work under Windows or Mac OS, but still there are no solutions
for under Linux?"

Thanks,

Doug Lerner, Tokyo
