Hiya, I finally figured out what the problem was that was causing me have no sound. It was my usb webcam. I have a logitech quickcam 1000 pro and I had it connected when I booted Linux up. From there, linux loads the usb sound modules as unknown, which caused an i/o conflict with my sound card. To remedy this i had to disconnect the webcam and reboot linux and remove the sound modules that were loaded during boot-up using kadzu. Thanks everyone for you help.
