These devices were sometimes called Fetron's. We used them in 43A carrier units in the Telephone Central office in the early 70's to replace vacuum tubes. They were 7 pin devices in metal cans and one version as I recall worked well as a replacement for a 6BH6 tube in the first IF of a GE progress line receiver.. (Hams are resourceful people).....
The nuvistor was a different device, it was found in TV tuners of that era and was developed by RCA.
