Good reasons = $$$$$$$$$ Instead of helping out the Amateur community, who on that rare occasion does perform some valuable public service, they would just as soon gouge everyone equally.
They just don't understand the market and good will they could generate. How many repeater users would like to use a nice new repeater instead of some cobbled up pile of obsolete radios ??
