I was also facing similar problem while rebuilding AS2.1. I should have seen
the kernel version number.

BTW, this might help..I am not sure as I have not ventured to build AS3 yet.

rpmbuild --target athlon --with up --without smp --without BOOT --without
hugemem --without source
