Transferring vinyl to digital has been one of my hobbies since 1994.
(Started out using DAT, then CDR, now FLAC on hard disk). As others
have pointed out, it can be done fairly quickly. But if you want really
nice results (elimination of all audible pops/ticks/glitches, reduction
of surface noise), then it takes a lot of effort. I happen to enjoy the
process. But if your goal is just to get the music into digital format,
then I'd say you should just buy the CD, except in the following
circumstances:
1. Album not available on CD.
2. CD version has been edited or remixed in an unacceptable way.
3. CD version has been mastered badly.
