Yes the problem is that there are no standards but I don't really see how you could have very exact standards in tagging mainly because it involves people. I see the Beatles as rock, you as pop. I like the "the" in front of bands that use it you don't. It goes on and on. Genre is probably the worst. In todays world you could have 20 types of pop or maybe more, who really knows anymore. I believe you just have to set it up the best you can and do it the way you want. I now understand better what you are doing so see what you mean with lastfm. You're a bit more involved than me but so far I guess mine have been ok. Do you use dbpoweramp? The new version is awesome at tagging. I hardly ever have to do anything now with tags in my rips.
