No, I don't think so. All my track artists are shown, unless they are also tagged with Album Artist, and then they are sometimes shown and sometimes not. It would make sense for them to always not be shown if the Album Artist is meant to suppress Artist. I don't know why that's not consistent for me. Maybe it's remnants of old stuff in the database--I did do a SC clear and rescan before I started digging into this issue, but I did not forcibly delete the database cache. At any rate, I have come up with a solution that gives me the results I wanted -- I added Band tags and set the option in SC to include Bands in the Artist list. So now (for example) I can browse to Rob Thomas and can see everything he has done whether it be solo work, or with Matchbox Twenty, or with Tabitha's Secret. I also have Matchbox Twenty in my artist list which only shows me the MB20 albums, and I have Tabitha's Secret in the artist list and it only shows me the TS albums. Same thing with Tom Petty/Heartbreakers/Mudcrutch, and all the other examples I posted in this thread. I only add the Band tag for albums where I've tagged the main performer as the Album Artist. I think the Album Artist tag is intended more for compilations, and I use it that way too, but this was a good workaround for my non-standard use of the Album Artist tag. If there is another, better way I should be doing this, feel free to enlighten me. -- MeSue Sue http://www.last.fm/user/MeSue ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MeSue's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=985 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50492 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
