I do not download much from the internet (though my son does). My
bigger issue is with ripping CD's I already own for the convenience of
playing them using the Duet set-up or putting them on my iPod.

In the past, I have in the past always ripped CDs as a .wav file,
understanding that this is the best in terms of sound
quality/performance. I never rip anything in a compressed format, such
as an MP3 as this does not sound very good.

This being said, it seems that the WAV files are being converted
somewhere between my computer and the Squeezebox Duet system. My
concern is whether this is downgrading my files (as listened via the
Duet) or not? Since I just did a quick and hasty installation to make
sure it was working and I understood operations, I have not yet
installed it to my DAC, which is the ultimate plan for maximum
performance.

Any suggestions outside of WAV for optimal performance?
