To reiterate:

If you're concerned that the whole compressing audio and then
decompressing it and ending up with precisely the same thing you
started with sounds like hocus-pocus sleight of hand, don't be.  This
is fairly trivial and well-established tech these days.  There are
OTHER sorts of audio compression that do indeed alter the signal but
this isn't one of them.

The hocus-pocus sleight of hand that you should be far more worried
about is wireless networking tech.  If you're using wireless, then
assume flakiness will occasionally happen.  FLAC has advantages there
too because it's smaller and because it has a built-in checksum that
can detect file corruption, unlike WAV.  If possible, use a proper
ethernet cable for networking and worry no more.
