Large files and tagging for starters. 

FLAC is not compressed like an MP3 by throwing away music. FLAC is
compressed like an ARC or Zip file so that you have exactly what you
started with when it is uncompressed. FLAC is also easily converted to
any other format one might need. I rip and download in FLAC only. Then
I have dBpowerAmp convert the FLAC to 320Kbps MP3 only for songs that I
want on my iPhone. I play music with all other devices from FLAC.

Note: Yes, I know that there are programs that compress WAV like FLAC
but why do I need another program or step when there is FLAC?
