I used the directions for on the on the fly hdcd decoding from the meridianunplugged site, and the hdcd files play fine. I'm not sure, however, how you can tell if it is really decoding.
I did have a problem (white noise) with the hdcd files I had internally encoded with hdcd with dbpoweramp(these files were listed as 20 bit).
