its a lil weird. Does it only happen with WMA type files
or other file types too?
As you probably know, Im a big fan of "tags-only" work, but SC will
for reasonable safety reasons "fall back" to the "look in folder"
schema in some cases. So I might be intrigued to have a look into this.
Without actually checking, I -think- it might have to do with the
"guessing" pattern you can set up under "Settings -> Advanced ->
Formatting -> Guess Tags Formats".
As far as I remember, these should only be used if SC for some reason
cannot read the tags, so it would be good to know
- on which file types you experience this
- if all files are actually in the same folder
- what type of tags are used in the files (or none)
- the exact filenames (or at least the differences you see)
- what exactly you have in the "Guess Tags Formats" fields (if you
copy these into the forum, place them in between "code" BBCodes).
- what SC version you run, and on which platform
