This original article may seem long for something simple.

But some things are interesting to me. The writer tells: "If the user
can live with the high likelihood of losing the metadata for the Working
Copy and wants to guarantee the best sound quality then the recommended
format is WAV." 

My first impression seems to prove this.
I just installed a Transporter. Ripped a CD to Flac and it does loose
sound quality compared to the original CD. Bummer!
I ripped again, now as WAV and most problems disappear.

What can be said about this?
Mind you, I am just starting the search for this, I will look further
still. 

I noticed a fair amount of options in EncBonk ripper I use and don't
know too much about the way it handles the data with these options.

But I hope to learn about preserving the sound quality of a audio rip.
