it seems like this is probably my tenth thread on this here over the
past 5 years or so, maybe venting is therapeutic. i seem to be
endlessly fighting with squeezebox (my touch this year) to correctly
recognize tags. i made a compilation cd tonight. i erased all existing
tags and retagged with mp3tag. now, laughably, instead of one cd with
16 songs in it, i have 16 separate cd's of one song each. all the tags
have the identical artist, album name, blah blah blah everything is
correct.

now the reason why i started this thread is not that i need help fixing
this. oh no, i will be able to fix this after spending YET ANOTHER night
of futzing with it. instead of actually, oh i don't know, spending time
with my family or something. the question is this: if i load this same
album (or other mistagged albums) into anything else i can find -
winamp, mp3tag, itunes, bliss, subsonic and probably 20 others i
haven't yet tried, they ALL CAN READ THE TAGS PERFECTLY!! but
squeezebox touch? absolute fail, time and time again. why/what is the
fundamental difference that squeezebox is using to decipher tags that
gives it such a hard time when almost every other source on earth can
do it without a problem? is this being looked into by the coders
because this has been going on for years now.
