I've got close to 100,000 tracks in my library. I'd say on less than 10 was the tagging metadata so screwed that I had to expand to WAV and recompress. For everything else, mp3tag was used to correct the tag errors. There only two apps which don't try and hide from you what's actually in the tags - mp3tag and the Squeezebox scanner!
