Everytime I had a problem like this it was because the tags were wrong. I suggest to re-check the tags. Select all songs of that compilation in MP3TAG, right click and select extended tags. Every tag value that says < KEEP > is not consistent within your album.
If you're using FLAC files then the following tags must be the same in order for an album not to be split (I have no idea how the tag fields are called in MP3): ALBUM (obviously!) ALBUMARTIST FORMAT (CD, vinyl, MiniDisc etc) DISCNUMBER TOTALDISCS MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID Finally, have a look at how squeezeboxserver handles compilations. If you don't have a common ALBUMARTIST tag, things can get tricky.
