Actually, I did this kinda thing in my MUD once. It didn't require the need
of two separate ports though. Basically my MUD acted like three separate
muds... With a unique spell system to each and no player interaction between
the three 'worlds.' Of course, I allowed the ability to jump from one world
to another, and what fun that was! Just think of two players duking it out
using a whole new array of spells and skills that the other is completely
unfamiliar with... Very very interesting.

Now, the only problem I really ran into with this was that I was
solo-coding, which ment I didn't have enough time to flesh out all the
features of each unique world, nor did I have the builder resources to
construct areas for each either. So, this whole system was sealed up in a
zip file and parked on a CD to collect dust until such time I can utilize
it. Was fun while it lasted though.
