I guess the whole discussion - I'm only a passive listener - can be reduced
to:

Yodaikens's (RTL) intention is to reduce the system to whatever is necessary
to
have a stable system. I understand the need of an easy and reduced api,
because
this normally results in a robust program and OS.

Paolo's (RTAI) intention is to implement things which are useful - and of
course
powerfull in some cases. And there is never a leak of new ideas. And to have
the
chance to use neat things (memory managemant, thread start in threads...)
doesn't
mean you HAVE TO USE IT!

In general I think there couldn't be a better way to develop RealtimeLinux
than the
situation is now. It's always a waist of energy to have - at least two -
different sytems,
but that is and was the way Linux is growing. Everything else is redmond.
I'm interesting
in RT Linux now for about 1 year and it is unbelievable how things are
growing there.
Unfortunately I have a job WITHOUT the chance to use it.

Heinz
