Hi Peter,

I have been using cat litter for 20 years with no problem. You need to buy the
non-scented non-clumping, plain old stuff. Currently, I am getting it at my
local Wal-Mart for $1 a bag. It's the best color I've found yet. Glue it down
with white glue or matte medium, after soaking it thoroughly with water. I
paint the stuff I use around the quarries, since that would be a more uniform
color.

Don't use it!!!!.....it is most often a clay type product and will absorbe
and melt down with water based glues...and not hold very well, most cat litter
is too course fore S anyway. I tried it some years ago for rock loads in
hoppers and gon's and although it looked good at first, the long term
performance was poor and deteriorated with time.

  Raleigh,
I've never tried it. I have a cat.
