Don't forget that this is an average, so includes cars stored, RIP track, etc., 
not just cars in service.  Also, the type of freight car would matter - a 
boxcar would tend to be reloaded and shipped off quicker than a flat car.

One of the groups I'm on (STMFC - Steam Freight Cars?) discussed this recently, 
and the consensus was that the month turn-around figure was bogus because it 
included so many cars that weren't serviceable.
