Actually, when someone is trying to built/judge support for a particular 
project I think it is a breach of "Netiquette" to divert the thread to a 
different prototype. This isn't a group pizza order where if you don't make it 
clear you want pepperoni you will be stuck eating anchovies.

This would be especially true if the thread is tied to a specific 
manufacturer's project. If you really want a different prototype, why not wait 
a couple of days for the first thread to run it's course, then broach your own 
idea? It would not apply to the run-of-the-mill "what S really needs" thread.

Still, I don't think it rises to the level of moderator action.
