I use mine mainly to cut reflections, especially in windows, etc. Sometimes, 
when shooting in front of a building, the background will reflect in the 
windows, or even in the vehicle windows, as was the case the other day.

About twenty years ago, I was photocopying old photographs for a local author, 
and the polarizer saved my bacon! Most of the time, however, I just keep it 
within reach.
