Great Clint !

Its so nice to hear when work is proceeding for someone.

Please add me to your picture list once again

thanks

André

I spent all day in Dallas at the chassis shop and my car is back on the
ground. Looks good! There is a small problem keeping us from test-driving
it,though. The front coils have been trimmed so much that the ride height is
going to cause trouble. We're going to have to raise the front end just a
tad so the driver's side front tire doesn't hit the inner fenderwell. It's
possible I might have to sell my Global West tubular A-arms (on order) and
buy a set of Fatman Fabrication 1 narrower tubular arms, instead.
Sitting in the car's bench seat, the prototype shifter feels great in its
present location and has plenty of clearance, even with the seat all the way
forward. I should have some new photos this evening, after I get off work.

I agree. The scamble was worth watching. For those of us with drivers, all we could
do was watch. I found a bunch of leaks and bailed all weekend. I've got my next
project and it includes sealing and waterproofing. However, after friday saturday,
I understand why a queen is a queen at a 2 day long distance show I
learned alot this weekend and am thinking about a trailer in the future for just these

Well guys... another show has come and gone. This one was one for the
books. Started off a little shaky with all of the rain we've had here in MD
for the last couple of months. Arriving on Friday in a complete down pour,
just to find our show field was now a lake was quite a surprise. well
not really. Nevertheless, we found another location close by, relocated,
got the word out and had one helluva show on both Saturday and Sunday!! I
thought my horseshoe had finally run out of luck... not so!!

Hopefully some of you had the opportunity to drop by and brave the always
rain threating weather until about noon on Sunday. For those that couldnt
make it... we had over 168 cars this year, around 35 vendors and too many
spectators to count (i only have 10 fingers and toes... might have something
to do with it). Chuck Hanson was on hand talking, shooting pictures,
talking, did a seminar on casting numbers, did I say talking..(just ribbin
ya Chuck...LOL). Of course I was all over as usual and got to meet many new
faces to go with the names here on the list.

Next years show is already in the planning... so put it on the calendar...
June 19/20, 2004... 17th Annual Mid-Atlantic Chevelle Show Swap Meet/ACES
Northeast Regional at the North East Community Park in North East, MD.

 See ya there!!

Ok I could really use some insight here. I can't get my '66 Chevelle to
fire
up. I had been driving it since the rebuild, but something just did not
feel
right when I got on it a little. It proceeded to worsen to the point that
once I shut it off I could not get it to fire up again.

I've swapped carbs (a 750 Demon and the 750 Carter that was on the engine
prior) and HEI units (Pertronix and the stock unit that was on before) to
no
avail. The HEI conversion was done prior to me getting the car, but it I
had
never had a problem in the two years prior.

I even got to the point where I pulled the heads and the timing cover to
see
if there was a problem...nothing I could find.

I get good compression on all cylinders.

Question: If I put a timing light on any plug wire, should it not fire as
the engine turns over? The only wire that will show any light it #1, all
don't light the gun. Could something be wrong with BOTH distributors? Is
there a way to test? And if they are both bad what would had caused that?

My hope is that there is something simpler just sitting in plain sight,
but
I've about exhausted everything I know of.

 thanks

There's also a short brake hose connected to the same little brass

Is it possible to remove replace that little brass connection from

fixed to the brass connection?
My thought is to try to replace that little brass block so I can rid of

[Chevelle-List] penetrating oils from Kano

2003-06-25 Thread Steve

I noticed a few people
asking what the favorite penetrating solutions are out there for removing frozen
parts, and I wanted to tell everyone about my all- time best
product.

I have worked in
industrial maintenance for over 25 years and in the early 1980s was introduced
to the Kano line of chemicals ( www.Kanolabs.com/ ). Up to that point,
I was forced to use whatever penetrating oil the companystockroom girl
bought that month. But a salesman left us a sample of their KROIL
and I have been forever sold on several of their products. I started
buying their stuff in gallons or 5 gallon containers for use in my
garage.

The best oil for loosening
any corroded/stuck part is KROIL. It is promoted as being able to reach
into the smallest openings to start helping get the part out. I found it
was very helpful to add some heat, if possible, to speed things along. But
on a restoration job, I might just keep reapplying over a few days to keep the
heat off the part.

Other stuff I have used
from KANO of liked include:

Kreen engine
cleaner
Glit Glass
Cleaner
SiliKroil (Kroil
w/silicone)-don't use this stuff if painting is in the
future!
Micriol precision
oil
Exrust

Most items can be ordered
in small spray cans but I tend to buy the engine cleaner and penetrating
oils in gallon or 5 gallon containers to save a few
dollars!
Their website has more
details and has a great Maintenance Ideas
section.

Hope this is of some help,
maybe save a knuckle or two!

Re: [Chevelle-List] Can't get her to fire....

2003-06-25 Thread Mike Holleman
Ron, I have run in to the same kind of problems and I know how frustrating
it can be. Go back to the basics. With the switch in on and start positions
you should have a full 12 volts going to the HEI unit and also at coil
positive. If both are good, the coil should fire. A good auto repair shop
should be able to test your HEI unit. If you don't have one go get a cheap
in line spark tester. That will save a lot of guessing. And good luck.

Pelle, The hose threads into the brass block. All are replacable. You will

The

Make sure your distributor is turning when you crank the engine. That could
explain only seeing spark on #1 cylinder. Also take a good look at the
ignition coil. I'm assuming that yours is in the cap? Check *ALL* your
grounds very carefully .
One last thought for you. If you take a 12 volt light bulb and connect one
end to the tack lead of the distributor and the other end to a good ground
it should flash as long as you are cranking your engine. I use a 194 bulb
mounted in a side marker base with alligator clips for connections. If you
don't have that a 12 volt test light will work fine too. That will verify
the full primary side of your ignition system.

Good Luck

Ok I could really use some insight here. I can't get my '66
 Chevelle to fire
up. I had been driving it since the rebuild, but something just
 did not feel
right when I got on it a little. It proceeded to worsen to the point that
once I shut it off I could not get it to fire up again.

It's
possible I might have to sell my Global West tubular A-arms (on order) and
buy a set of Fatman Fabrication 1" narrower tubular arms, instead.
Sitting in the car's bench seat, the prototype shifter feels great in its
present location and has plenty of clearance, even with the seat all the way
forward. I should have some new photos this evening, after I get off work.

Thanks, Dan

Probably right. If it sold at reserve, his ebay fees would
be around $3100 as best I figure. I watched a thing on Car Crazy this
afternoon where a guy sold a custom Motor Trend magazine 67 Camaro at BJ for
$41,000 and his fee was about $3200 or so. That and his time to haul the
car there, hotels, food, etc. he walked away with something like
  $36,000.
