Re: Confused over NAT [7:65926]
Nat replaces the inside IP with a/the real IP from it's outside pool. It keeps track of which inside device each NAT'd (is that a word?) packet belongs to via the port it assigns to the packet when it puts the outside IP addy on it and sends it. Re: RIP Question [7:65031]
RIP V1 automatically summarizes. You can't employ V1 in a classless manner. So any router running it that has the network in it's advertise list is going to advertise the entire classful network. Good way to start a routing loop. wireless [7:62104]
I'm navigating the Cisco site as well as whatever google comes up with, but I'm having a very difficult time finding any decent reference material for 802.11. I work for an ISP and unfortunately, we've been left in a position of not having anyone left who's well versed in wireless access. We have several towers and many wireless customers and as things fell, I'm the one in charge of taking care of these customers. I am looking for a good, full understanding of wireless. We use breezecom and cisco equipment. Any URL or book references would be greatly appreciated. RE: bcran [7:56893]
For all of you who have recently taken the bcran test, I've really dug in for studying bcran. I'm finding the section on modem init strings, reverse telnet, etc incredibly difficult. My question is, how much of this subject was on the bcran test? Is it something they pay a lot of attention to in questions or do they worry more about ppp, etc? Just trying to find a way to narrow my study focus because this seems to me to be the most difficult to learn of any of the ccnp material I've studied... Re: Question on ATM OC-3 WAN connection and TcpWindowSize [7:56627]
I once had a similar problem. The problem ended up being that the individual files were so small that the ftp client simply couldn't get up to speed. It would basically start slow for each file and accelerate during the upload. They were so small, though, that basically it keeps starting over from 0. I discovered that by compressing files using whatever program you prefer (winzip, winrar, tar) that making it one file allowed it to get up to full speed utilization. Not sure if this will help. Re: OSPF for ISPs [7:54540]
I work for an ISP and we simply run a static route of those IPs for the customer and just redist. static routes via EIGRP. Updates are usually not affected much, either, as we have made sure that any subnets that we route to a customer already exist on that router, therefore router summarization takes over and there's very little increase in the broadcast traffic. We also try to make sure that no customers are more than one hope away from our border routers. For whatever good this does you. :) Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=54667&t=54540 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I myself have found that if you do a show run in hyperterm, then hit enter a bunch of times and scroll up, the the scrambling above the window goes away. Re: CCIE written "revised" [7:53972]
I don't think the boot's about learning the science, though. I understand the science, but I wanted to know what specific things that I would need to work on for the test. I think boots have their place. I found, however, that if I didn't understand the science, I wouldn't have passed the tests with or without the boot. Cisco is very good at constructing their tests in a way that doesn't test trivia, but rather tests your ability to apply the knowledge to real situations. Well, almost real, anway. In remembering this day, let us PLEASE not start criticizing America. America is great and wonderful and the entire world knows it. Don't let those who pretend to have a higher insight convince you otherwise. Also, do not let those who are jealous of America convice you it's bad. There does not exist a single nation in this world that has not at one time or another benefitted from America, it's power, or it's generosity.
