All the main packages will be included in powerpack and prosuite.

Some of them will not be in download edition, as there are on 3
650 MB discs.

However I force kdeartwork to be at least on the 3rd CDs.

I am using the default profile and wireless profile. Since both networks are
dhcp, I attempted to set up both eth0 (internal LAN card) and eth1 (wireless
card) as dhcp. Although, I could ping my router and received a legitimate IP
address from the dhcp server, the DNS did not come through. The card works fine
on the same box when I dual boot into Windows.

The workaround I had to use was to give the machine a static IP address so that
I could enter the gateway and set DNS to the router's IP address (the router is
a Netgear which contains the dhcp server, firewall, and WAP.

The tool doesn't transfer my boot at start settings to the ifcfg files for the
interfaces that it produces. I had to manually tweak these files. The other
issue is that you can't ignore an interface. Typically, I use either the
internal LAN card or the wireless, but not both.

In fact, I would like to re-open this since it still happen. What is strange is
that it does not happen on every site. Would it depend on the ftp server?

If I download the same file from
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/8/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/ and
ftp://sunsite.uio.no/pub/Linux/Mandrake/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/

Galeon segfaults on the second address.

Since sunsite is quite busy, I also had troubles downloading figlet221.zip from
ftp://ftp.figlet.org/pub/figlet/program/unix/

rpmfind uses vsFTPd 1.0.0, ftp.figlet.org uses NcFTPd and I don't know what
sunsite uses.

If anyone reproduces this problem, please re-open this defect.

never

read the
log going into /var/log/syslog so it is there. I see nothing in the log to indicate
why it is not

Multiple track recording, gain control on each channel on-the-fly, click

Still has crazy delay in full duplex though, so you have to re-sync every

Still, the sound in 1.1.1 is really bad. It's too bad 1.3.0 isn't out in time

MySQL-Max (4.0.9-1mdk) is packaged in a way that it expects a MySQL (base)
package to be installed, but does not require it, as far as I can see. I just
managed to install MySQL-Max-4.0.9 alongside of MySQL-3.23.55-1mdk, which of
course did not work:

030207 06:02:14 mysqld started
030207 6:02:14 Error message file '/usr/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys' had
only 218 error messages, but it should contain at least 237 error messages.
Check that the above file is the right version for this program!
030207 6:02:14 Aborting

Yeah, I am aware that mixed Cooker installs are not supported (I am running full
Cooker, I just did choose MySQL-Max as first thing to update), but as far as the
requires look like, it would be even possible to install MySQL-Max without
having any MySQL base package installed, but the mysql-max server needs at least
the translation file, which is in the base package. Btw, I am referring only to
the above error, because I am currently not in the mood to try MySQL-Max alone
and screw up my install completely. ;-)

If Requires is not the Right Way to solve this, ignore this part (I am only
basically familiar with RPM packaging) and do it in whatever is the Right Way.

[Cooker] [Bug 3015] [Installation] New: Mandrake installer fails to run with Nvidia Ti4600 graphics cards.

2003-03-08 Thread vladvick
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3015

   Product: Installation
 Component: hardware
Summary: Mandrake installer fails to run with Nvidia Ti4600
graphics cards.
   Version: 1.804
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: blocker
  Priority: P1
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Mandrake installer in Mandrake 9.0 and 9.1 beta release 1 fails to load
when an Nvidia Ti4600 card is used.

In Mandrake 9.0 the computer compleatly frezzes and the keyboard lights blink
on and off.

In Mandrake 9.1 beta the screen is compleatly unreadable and the only thing
you can see is 8 repeated fuzzy images of the mouse moving in 8 separate areas
of the screen.

When you go into vgalo 8 bit mode, it appears to run, but the screen size is
so small all the buttons on the bottom of the screen are cut off and you
cannot procede through the installation at all.

The only way to install mandrake linux with an NVida Ti4600 is with text mode
only installation.

Speaking of insanity, I just packaged figlet if anyone wants it:

Name: figlet Relocations: (not
relocateable)
Version : 2.2.1 Vendor: (none)
Release : 1mdk Build Date: Sat 08 Mar 2003
09:34:49 PM PST
Group : Applications/Text Source RPM:
figlet-2.2.1-1mdk.src.rpm
Size: 715781 License: Artistic
URL : http://www.figlet.org/
Summary : Program to create large letters on text screen
Description :
Figlet is a program that creates large characters out of ordinary screen
characters.

I think it would be in good company with cowsay.

[Cooker] [Bug 1657] [XFree86] XFree86 localization kills gnome apps in simplified Chinese

Seems to have gotten worse as of XFree86-4.3-2mdk.
It doesn't work with either zh_CN or zh_CN.UTF-8.
Gnome applications segfault when you login with
simplified Chinese. Curiously zh_TW works fine.

I get an error about Xlib not knowing about locale
zh_CN.

Thanks!!!

This problem appears to be fixed if one copies the file

I agree (sort of).

There are times when it is known that a change in one package will require a
number of packages to be rebuilt (e.g. gcc, glibc, kernel). Jumping into the
middle of one of these rounds is, at times, pointless and frustrating.

A message to this list saying "we're updating xxx pacakges, you might want to
hold on for a day or two" would be welcome.

can shutdown with the radeon driver and ACPI enabled with dri disabled. Again

LCD monitor 1027X768 (also correct). There are two distinct problems:

1. Laptop monitor will not sync reliably. Has horizontal lines about 50% of
the time when X starts. Can be worked around by alternating Ctrl-Alt-Fx and
Ctrl-Alt-F6 (switch between a terminal session and X) until it syncs. Once
synced it will remain so until logging out/in or restarting.

2. On shutdown, when X stops a blue color band is displayed at the bottom of
the screen and the machine hangs.

Also, X works fine if the VESA driver is selected, shutdown works as well
without a problem.

Also Windows XP works fine using a resolution of 1024x768.

[Cooker] [Bug 3014] [kdemultimedia] New: KMix does not work, aumix does, since March 7 cooker update

KMIx shows all controls at 100%, but no sound is heard.

Running aumix you see that all controls are at 0. Setting the aumix controls to 70%
causes
sound to be heard.

After the cooker update Friday evening, my working sound system didn't produce any
sound. It
changed my sound card driver, and KMix showed a crossed out speaker symbol in the
system
tray.

I think 2987 relates to this error, as it describes the behavior of KMix.

Pertinent information, gathered once I had everything working using aumix.

Sorry about the default for datadir. I noticed it, but forgot to include it in
my report.

And a second sorry for nitpicking (and somehow hijacking this bug step by step),
but IMHO
  datadir=`my_print_defaults mysqld | grep '^--datadir' | cut -d \  -f2-`
has to be
  datadir=`my_print_defaults mysqld | grep '^--datadir=' | cut -d=  -f2-`

i.e. the key and values are seperated by a "=" sign (The "cut" is the relevant
part. Appending "=" to the "grep" is just some future-safety while I am at it).
>From a production server of mine:

  $ my_print_defaults mysqld | grep '^--datadir' | cut -d \  -f2-
  --datadir=/var/lib/mysql
  $ my_print_defaults mysqld | grep '^--datadir=' | cut -d=  -f2-
  /var/lib/mysql

So I am not sure why you changed my example "-d=" to "-d \ ". Do I missing
something? (And ignore that in the example above the variable happens to be set
to the default, "/var/lib/mysql").

Aside from that, the changes work fine. Thanks.

[Cooker] [Bug 3012] [lilo] New: Lilo bootloading freeze on i586 Pentium 233

2003-03-08 Thread john
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3012

   Product: lilo
 Component: lilo
Summary: Lilo bootloading freeze on i586 Pentium 233
   Version: 22.4.1-2mdk
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

In the current release of Mandrake 9.1 RC2, when doing an initial install after
all has been configured, lilo attempts to mount itself on the MBR of hda1. This
is fine, but it seems that on this hardware spec, it cannot mount. It simply
doesn't seem to be able to complete the mount. I don't have a dump of the
error, due to the freeze. I attempted to reinstall/upgrade after the fact twice
with identical results. I then installed Mandrake 9.0 final, and lilo mounted
properly and it's now running it as I type this. The hardware specs are:

Intel Pentium 233 CPU
96 MB SDRAM
1- 4 Gig hard drive(HDA)- reiserfs with /boot and / mounted
1- 4 GIg hard drive(HDB)- reiserfs with /usr and "linux swap" mounted
Sound blaster live audio pci
ATI rage pro 4 Meg video pci
ps2 MS intellimouse
serial AT keyboard
FIC 503+ motherboard

The latest bios was installed on the motherboard(late 1999 vintage)

I wish I could give you more exact error codes, but I don't know how to do so
when I can't even mount lilo. Perhaps I should attempt to install the cooker
version onto the 9.0 release, and check the error out. But it's compiled for
the newer glib/gcc, so that may not be an option.. Hrm. Maybe doing a "linux
single" load with a rescue floppy and attempt to /sbin/lilo -v. That may work
much better methinks.

Let me know if you need any more information. I hope I'm the only one with this
issue. The hardware is old, but that's what linux's main attractants. It could
be a cpu bottleneck for the currently compiled lilo binary. But that's a
layman's guess. Take care.

How the output of "rpm -q --scripts MySQL-Max" should look like

Sorry, still some minor issues...

  $ /usr/sbin/urpmi MySQL-Max
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
  MySQL-4.0.11a-3mdk (due to conflicts with MySQL-Max[> 4.0.11])
  libmysql12-devel-4.0.11a-3mdk (due to unsatisfied MySQL == 4.0.11a-3mdk)

That is after a full install of MySQL. The dependency for libmysql12-devel
should be fullfilled by MySQL-Max, shouldn't it?

The post-install script removes "mysql" instead of "mysql-max". It should be:
  /usr/share/rpm-helper/del-service MySQL $1 mysql-max
(should this have gone to a new bug report?)

And initialisation of database is missing in MySQL-Max (compared to MySQL):
  # Initiate databases
  su - mysql -c "mysql_install_db -IN-RPM" > /dev/null

MySQL-Max (4.0.9-1mdk) is packaged in a way that it expects a MySQL (base)

only 218 error messages, but it should contain at least 237 error messages.

Yes I have this also. Only I had show hidden files turned on so I noticed
this behavior quite some time ago. With view hidden it just sits there and
flickers. I have never just let it go to see how long it would go but it does
not seem to ever want to stop. Also It has been going on a lot longer than
that. At least since rc2. I don't know if it has been longer than that
though.

I have isolated the shutdown problem to having ACPI turned on. Turning off
ACPI cures the shutdown issue. Shame since ACPI was working so well. This
was the first time I could monitor the battery and power off the hardware.

I have had no success curing the sync problem. Any ideas anyone???

Ctrl-Alt-F6 (switch between a terminal session and X) until it syncs. Once
synced it will remain so until logging out/in or restarting.

2. On shutdown, when X stops a blue color band is displayed at the bottom of

Also, X works fine if the VESA driver is selected, shutdown works as well
without a problem.

Also Windows XP works fine using a resolution of 1024x768.

There's missing something... Normally the dump option should display *all*
configuration in /etc/ppp/options

The dump should be in /var/log/messages

It looks to me like either gnome-ppp is refusing PAP, or either it's refusing
the MRU of the server.

I think maybe keeping milestone snapshots of cooker would be a good
thing. These would be less stable than the betas but more stable than
Cooker, thus encouraging more to test out packages that are still in
development. It would also provide more flexibility; if, late in the
devcycle of a version, it becomes apparent that Cooker is not in any
state to base a release of, one of the milestones may be more suitable
for release.

These milestones would probably better be based on certain criteria
being met, rather than a strict calendar approach. This would, of
course, require that some type of roadmap be laid out for the
development of each version.

Here is the scenario. I did a fresh cooker install.

Standard install, created three users. Elected to not use autologin by leaving
default choices. Balance of install went without issue. Even though I left autologin
unselected during the install /etc/sysconfig/autologin had AUTOLOGIN=yes set, but it
did not take effect because the autologin package was not installed. Also, no
/etc/sysconfig/desktop file was created.

To correct I used the drakboot module to set autologin on and then back off.
/etc/sysconfig/autologin now has AUTOLOGIN=no which is correct and the
/etc/sysconfig/desktop file has been created

[Cooker] [Bug 3009] [grpmi] New: improve handling of "MD5 sum mismatch"

2003-03-08 Thread benjamin-mdk-bugzilla
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3009

   Product: grpmi
 Component: grpmi
Summary: improve handling of "MD5 sum mismatch"
   Version: 9.1-11mdk
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Did a search on "md5" which found no existing bugs. AFAICT, the application in
question is grpmi, but I saw the error when installing from rpmdrake.

On signature check, I got an error like:

The signature of the package 'fluxbox-0.1.14-6mdk.i586.rpm' is not correct:

  MD5 sum mismatch
  Expected: 7e4859c86a7e4be85508c4863340f368
  Saw : c9e8488fde20be2576d39f33afdde80e

Do you want to install it anyway?

(yes, the second line displays shifted, probably due to spaces in a proportional
font.)

This message will not appear, if you chose "Yes to all" beforehand on a GPG
signature mismatch. Since GPG signature are mainly about authentication and
often lacking on contrib package, but MD5 checksum are mainly about integrity,
it would be reasonable to handle them differently.

In other words: I am missing some explanation that the most probable reason for
this error means, my download was broken (I am aware that the text has to be
more general to apply to CD installs, too). And second, pressing "yes to all" on
a missing GPG signature shouldn't ignore failed checksums (i.e. if possible
differentiate between missing and invalid signatures).

Not sure if this should be targeted for 9.1, but please make sure it gets picked
up later if it is delayed for after-release.

I disabled APIC in my BIOS and that really messed things up. I've got copies of

Basically the install went and detected the drives etc, killed a runaway process
and went back to the begnning of the install.
This may have been a one off, i haven't had chance to try it again. But

Tested on Mandrake 9.1RC2. Problems are still there. Laptop monitor will
sync on about 50% of the boots. Can be overcome by switching to a terminal
session and back. Also the hang on shutdown or logout persists. All I get is
a screen with upper half dark and lower half a shade of grey. Can shutdown by
going to a terminal session, logging in as root and doing a shutdown. Still
works OK with driver set to vesa. Looks like the support for Mobility M6 LY

More exactly, the shell bang at the beginning was not property set.

BTW, i thought spec-helper automatically added correct dependencies for every
script with a shellbang ?

It is obviously not the case here:

No, it's my own work. I could describe it as a web interface over a PostgreSQL
database. If you're really interested, i guess it would be easier for me to
open you an account on my box to test the problem.

It works fine under apache 1 (meaning: eventually crashing normally), but
behaves strangely under apache 2, whereas some parameters combination make it
runs in the background without ever returning result to the client. In those
cases, i have distinct perl process, as well as idle DBI connection listed
among other process in ps output.

Everything seems to OK now that i've switched to mod_cgid

APM. Still can't sleep though.

Bugzilla isn't updated with current cooker packages.

I just tried to submit a bug for the newly added "cowsay" package in contribs, but
it's not yet
listed in bugzilla.

By the time something has been added to contribs, updated into the hdlist, put on the
mirrors, filtered it's way down to my local mirror and I've gotten around to reading
the
changelog list, seeing a notice about a new package, getting around to installing it
and
finding a bug and going to report it (whew!) it should also be in bugzilla! =)

Anyway, since bugzilla is now the prefered method of reporting bugs, it should
acurately
and speedily reflect exactly what's in cooker so that bugs can be reported easily.

The other solution, would be to have a "not-listed" category you could select in
bugzilla...
but perhaps that would be abused (although I kind of doubt it).

When entering a bug about Bugzilla, there is a bug. (Oh the irony! ;)

Very trivial, but it says: "We've made a guess at your operating system and platform.
Please
check them and, if we got it wrong, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]"

However, there *is* no option for operating system or platform, so:

1) No, you haven't made a guess (or you have and haven't told me about it), and
2) I can't check them or see if you've got them wrong.

There is however, a mysterious "Architecture" box that lists things like DEC, HP, SGI
and
Sun, which obviously makes absolutely no sense at all when reporting on anything
related
to cooker. =)

[Cooker] [Bug 3005] [drakconf] New: mcc lies about services in mdk-9.1rc2

2003-03-08 Thread ndeb
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3005

   Product: drakconf
 Component: drakconf
Summary: mcc lies about services in mdk-9.1rc2
   Version: 9.1-6mdk
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This bug was reported earlier in bug 2283. However, it was resolved as "fixed" even
though the
bug remains exactly as it was.

Firstly, the only ALSA rpms installed on my system are:
libalsa-data-0.9.0-0.14rc7mdk
libalsa2-0.9.0-0.14rc7mdk

Here's how to reproduce the bug:
1. As before, start mcc for the 1st time after a reboot. Mcc shows the status of the
alsa
service as "stopped" even though the ALSA sound drivers are all loaded (lsmod shows
them
loaded) and sound is already working.

2. Click on the start button for alsa service. Mcc shuts down and then starts the
service and
shows it as "running". All it does is execute /etc/rc.d/init.d/alsa to unload and then
reload the
ALSA kernel modules.

The question is: if it is "running" now, why does mcc show it as "stopped" at the
beginning ?

Also, what does it mean to say "alsa service running" when the script
/etc/rc.d/init.d/alsa is
clearly not running in the manner in which /sbin/devfsd, /usr/sbin/atd run as a
daemons ?
Note that I do _not_ have alsa-utils installed so there is no way /usr/bin/aconnect
and
/usr/sbin/alsactl can be run by the script in /etc/rc.d/init.d/alsa .

More stupid behavior:

3. Quit mcc.

4. Manually, using modprobe/rmmod, unload all sound modules.

5. Start mcc again and it still shows the alsa service as "running". At the same time
lsmod
shows no sound modules. So why this misinformation ?

Hi

Today, i installed avview. urpmi asked me if I wanted to install also ati.2
package, for ati drivers. I replyed yes, thinking it won't mess my system.
How wrong was I !
I'm the owner a nvidia video card (and of course I use it), and the ati.2
package moved my XFree86 drivers to another directory and put his own drivers
instead.
Hey, avview isn't only for ATI users ! (although it comes from the GATOS project).
The result was that my X server crashed after a few minutes, and that I was
unable to restart X.
I really wondered what happened, and realized that X couldn't loaded my nvidia
driver because ati.2 moved this driver to another directory.
Would it be possible to remove the ati.2 dependency ?

I was able to run avview before X crashed, and i found two others bugs:
- audio not hearable at the beginning, I had to invert the mute setting two times
- resizing was quite weird, cursor not following the window border when
resizing, and window scale weird

Thanks for caring with this.
(without forgetting Pascal Terjan, which thought with me about the
ATI-correlation of avview)

I just spent the entire day today fighting with the exact same problem. upgrade from
9.0 and
same domain extension.

I have 2 domains on my local network. Systems in the .com domain were able to be
resolved,
but systems on the .local domain always returned unknown host (too bad I didnt test
the .com
resolution earlier as it would have saved me a few hours).

After finally finding tmdns (something new from 9.0 it looks), the default
local_domains setting
includes .local (which ended up causing my laptop to resolve the .local extensions
from it rather
than from my nameserver). Either remove the .local extension from the config file or
disable
tmdns. Either way should fix it.

/etc/resolv.conf:

Which means that at least that part works. I'm stumped. Any ssh, telnet, rdesktop,
etc. to any
hostname (with or without the af.didata.local domain) doesn't work. Doing an nslookup
and
using that IP to connect to, does. The 9.1 machine was upgraded from a working 9.0 box
to
9.1RC1 which broke the addresseing. RC2 has not addressed this problem.

In addition in 9.1 /etc/hosts still does not contain "127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
 localhost",
instead only "127.0.0.1 localhost" which breaks some applications. (eg. Eclipse
debugger, not
part of main but in full use here) On new bootups the DHCP configuration seems to
change it
back to "localhost" again, forcing you to make the change manually to get your
applications to
work.

I don't know, but it doesn't help me more.. could you please be more
vague? ;-)

Is that a standard CGI, or something that you created, is it possible to
have a copy so I can duplicate the problem? Do you get the same results
with other CGI? Do you run suexec? What does that CGI do? etc. etc.

I did an hd install of 20030308 17:17, using Expert. At boot configuration, I
did not select to create a bootdisk. GRUB was installed to hdg8 and a full
menu was available when chainloaded from GRUB in the MBR. The report.bug is
attached in case the difference between the two reports reveals what caused my
problem the first time. Install (packages, Canon BJC-2000 printer, Realtek
RTL-8029/pppoe, CM8738 sound, Radeon QD, configuration of /mnt/hd urpmi
sources, PS/2 wheel mouse, etc.) is working very nicely for me. Thank you.

At bootloader configuration, I opended the Advanced dialog and selected to

formatted / partition, hdg8 on the hpt372 onboard controller. Install was,
otherwise, uneventfully successful but, when I rebooted, there was no menu.lst
and, apparently, GRUB had not been written to hdg8. I configured a menu.lst
with drakboot, which then wrote GRUB to hdg8, and all worked as expected.

[Cooker] [Bug 3003] [terminal-server] New: drakTermServ can't create network boot images - nfs is not a module

2003-03-08 Thread jgomez
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3003

   Product: terminal-server
 Component: terminal-server
Summary: drakTermServ can't create network boot images - nfs is
not a module
   Version: 1.5-7mdk
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: P3
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

How to reproduce the bug:
Launch drakTermServ
Click on Net Boot Images
Select a card under current kernel (vmlinuz-2.4.21-0.11mdk)
Click on Build Single NIC

It seems to work, but this is the console output:
Building NBIs for module set 3c509
modprobe: Can't locate module nfs
Cannot find any modules matching nfs
mkinitrd-net --nolink --kernel 2.4.21-0.11mdk -q 3c509 failed: No such file or
directory

Since I installed 9.1-RC2 as an upgrade from 9.0, it seems that mkinitrd-net
expects nfs to be loaded as a module (this was true in 9.0), instead of as part
of the kernel, which is the way 9.1 is configured.

Terminal Server works perfect otherwise; that is, I can boot from a remote PC
using an existing NBI (left over from last version, with kernel 2.4.19-16) and
login to a gnome session through gdm or xdm; dhcp, cluster nfs and tftp work
fine, and I can even create etherboot floppies.

But creating NBIs doesn't work.

Some versions of (possibly related) packages:

mkinitrd-3.1.6-37mdk
mkinitrd-net-1.10-2mdk
nfs-utils-clients-1.0.1-1mdk
clusternfs-3.0.rc2-7mdk
kernel-source-2.4.21-0.11mdk

[Cooker] [FIX] ggv rendering PDFs

2003-03-08 Thread J.A. Magallon
Hi.

For everyone that gets bad rendering of PDFs in ggv, try this: in GGV Preferences,
Ghostscript, Convert PDF to PS, change whatever command was there to

a=%s && b=%s && /usr/bin/pdftops $b $a

You need 'xpdf' package installed. I know this can not be a permanent fix,
but at least shows where is the problem.

Hope this helps.

BTW, if anyone knows about an easier way of reversing arguments, I would
be very grateful...

I do not have dhcp-client installed on my machine ("rpm -qa | grep dhcp" shows
nothing).

I do have a dhcp server on the network. Checking the /var/log/syslog on that machine
shows
no DHCPDISCOVER entry corresponding to my machine IP.

This problem is definitely not there in mdk-9.0 (run on the same machine from another
partition).

trying

Trying to install on a computer running Mandrake 9.0. Motherboard is an Asus

plugged in there. When I try to install it only shows the drive on the standard
motherboard ide ports.

I have Mandrake 9.0 running on a drive on the Promise ide and it has no problem
recognizing all the drives. I did not know of any special kernel commands to
give since I have never had to do that in the past when installing Redhat or
Mandrake.

I am not sure that your bug report is correct, since you only show the routing
table. Can you confirm otherwise that the dhcpclient has been run?

Fred, I think the problem is that the zeroconf route is being addded regardless
of whether a zeroconf ip has been used or not. This also affects dhcp users,
since on a network with a dhcp server (ie not using zeroconf), the route should
not be set (unless you are trying to attempt hotplugging even when ifplugd does
not work?).

So, I have changed the summary to reflect this.

[EMAIL PROTECTED], can you confirm whether my hypothesis here is correct? (ie, if
you have access to the logs on a dhcp server on your network, can you see a
DHCPDISCOVER request coming from this machine?)
