Followup-For: Bug #718401 Unfortunately even the 'pkill gnome-panel' workaround seems to work only once for me. The second pkill causes a 'something has gone wrong, please logout' message. yaret dies on editor execution (and when editor execution is modified, on
other command execution) with indication that $? is -1, even though the
commands work.
I'm not exactly Perl-literate but the attached change (using a different
variable in place of $?) seems to help.
perldoc -v '$?' warns that
If you have installed a signal handler for SIGCHLD, the value of $? will
usually be wrong
outside that handler.
and yaret uses such handler.
I've been using yaret successfully before but maybe something in perl 5.14
caused the problem to be visible?

I believe one could want to use any of the other CPU-specific versions of libatlas3gf (or maybe libblas3gf) instead of the -base variant. I do not really know anything about (in)compatibilities between these versions and maybe it is actually impossible, but then it would be good to explain the dependency change at least in the changelog/README.
