Bug#939615: rtkit: Flooding syslog
Package: rtkit Version: 0.13-5 Followup-For: Bug #939615 I can also confirm that setting LogLevelMax=info stops the flooding. Package: python3-numpy Version: 1:1.19.2-2+b1 Followup-For: Bug #945824 If the extra dependencies are there only because of scripts that * likely will be of no interest to most people installing python3-numpy as a dependency of some application, * and moreover will be, as far as I understand, useless anyway without installing other packages that python3-numpy only suggests, then I really wonder why these dependencies are not suggestions as well. -- Michał Politowski Talking has been known to lead to communication if practiced carelessly.

Bug#666270: liferea: search for unread unflagged items misbehaves after upgrade
Package: liferea Version: 1.8.3-0.1 Severity: normal I had a search folder that worked in 1.6.5 and before. It was supposed to contain unread unflagged items. .liferea_1.6/feedlist.opml outline title=Nieprzeczytane text=Nieprzeczytane description=Nieprzeczytane type=vfolder id=jccorka sortColumn=time viewMode=0 matchType=any collapsed=true outline type=rule text=Flaga przeczytania rule=unread value= additive=true/ outline type=rule text=Flaga statusu rule=flagged value= additive=false/ /outline .liferea_1.6/liferea.db CREATE VIEW view_jccorka AS SELECT items.ROWID AS item_id,items.read AS item_read FROM items WHERE ((items.read = 0) AND NOT(items.marked = 1)) AND items.comment != 1; The matchType=any in the feedlist looks suspicious but the view seems correct, and it worked. Anyway this is probably somewhat irrelevant, since when after the upgrade to 1.8.3 it started to act weird I deleted it and recreated fresh. It changed .liferea_1.8/feedlist.opml to outline title=Nieprzeczytane text=Nieprzeczytane description=Nieprzeczytane type=vfolder id=vkkakeu sortColumn=time viewMode=0 matchType=all collapsed=true outline type=rule text=Read status rule=unread value= additive=true/ outline type=rule text=Flag status rule=flagged value= additive=false/ /outline The matchType changed to the more expected all (I also set LC_MESSAGES=C before running liferea, that's what I suppose changed the text attributes), liferea.db seems to not have views anymore so nothing to see here. But the behavior of the newly created folder in 1.8.3 is still extremely problematic: * it started empty, * stayed empty after Rebuild from context menu (even though there were unread unflagged items in my feeds), * filled after Update All, but the count in parens after the folder name is '(1)' even though the status bar says '(18 new)' and the folder contains even more items, * well, actually it contained more items for a short moment; after selecting another feed and going immediately back to the search folder, now only one item is visible, * until Rebuild, which caused even this one item to disappear (the count in feed list stays firmly on '(1)') * after another Update All there are again many items in the search folder, (feedlist counter: '(0)') * switch to another folder, go back, lather, rinse, repeat. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (450, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=pl_PL, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL (charmap=ISO-8859-2) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages liferea depends on: ii gconf-service 3.2.3-4 ii gconf2 3.2.3-4 ii libatk1.0-0 2.2.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-27 ii libcairo2 1.10.2-7 ii libgconf-2-43.2.3-4 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.24.1-1 ii libglib2.0-02.30.2-6 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.10-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.7-2 ii libjson-glib-1.0-0 0.14.2-1 ii libnotify4 0.7.5-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.29.4-3+b1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.0-2 ii libsoup2.4-12.36.1-1 ii libsqlite3-03.7.11-2 ii libunique-1.0-0 1.1.6-4 ii libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 1.6.3-2 ii libxml2 2.7.8.dfsg-7 ii libxslt1.1 1.1.26-8 ii liferea-data1.8.3-0.1 Versions of packages liferea recommends: ii curl 7.25.0-1 ii dbus 1.5.12-1 ii dbus-x11 1.5.12-1 ii wget 1.13.4-2 Versions of packages liferea suggests: pn network-manager none -- no debconf information -- Michał Politowski Talking has been known to lead to communication if practiced carelessly. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I'm not exactly Perl-literate but the attached change (using a different variable in place of $?) seems to help. perldoc -v '$?' warns that If you have installed a signal handler for SIGCHLD, the value of $? will usually be wrong outside that handler. and yaret uses such handler. I've been using yaret successfully before but maybe something in perl 5.14 caused the problem to be visible? -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (450, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=pl_PL, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL (charmap=ISO-8859-2) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages yaret depends on: ii cdparanoia 3.10.2+debian-10 ii flac 1.2.1-6 ii libappconfig-perl 1.66-1 ii libaudio-cd-perl 0.05-9+b2 ii perl 5.14.2-6 ii vorbis-tools 1.4.0-1 -- Michał Politowski Talking has been known to lead to communication if practiced carelessly. --- /tmp/y/usr/bin/yaret 2006-03-05 20:32:29.0 +0100 +++ /usr/bin/yaret 2012-01-02 21:52:58.0 +0100 @@ -803,9 +803,9 @@ my $tfile = new File::Temp(TEMPLATE='yaret', DIR=$root_work, SUFFIX='.tmp'); dump_cddb_file $tfile; $tfile-close; - $? = system $editor, $tfile; - die sprintc $ERROR, Could not run editor ($editor) [$?] -if ($?); + my $system_status = system $editor, $tfile; + die sprintc $ERROR, Could not run editor ($editor) [$system_status] +if ($system_status); my $fh = new IO::File( $tfile); read_cddb_file $fh, 1; # 1 means overwrite previous information in memory $fh-close; @@ -1008,10 +1008,10 @@ my %keywords = (FILE_LIST=$from); my $template = $config-normalize_command-{$normalize}; my $command = make_substitution $template, 1, %keywords; -$? = 0; -$? = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null if $command; -printc $ERROR, Had an error on track ($track_num) doing '$command' [$?] - if ($?); +my $system_status = 0; +$system_status = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null if $command; +printc $ERROR, Had an error on track ($track_num) doing '$command' [$system_status] + if ($system_status); } for my $encoder (@{$config-encoder}) { my $to = $root_work/$encoder-$track_num.wav; @@ -1046,10 +1046,10 @@ my $template = $config-encoder_command-{$s{name}}; my $command = make_substitution $template, 1, %keywords; $workfile{$to} = 1; -$? = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null if $command; -if ($?) { +my $system_status = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null if $command; +if ($system_status) { unlink $to; - die sprintc $ERROR, Had an error on track ($track_num) doing '$command' [$?]\n; + die sprintc $ERROR, Had an error on track ($track_num) doing '$command' [$system_status]\n; } else { # we really do need to create this path everytime here... # perhaps the user does something weird like output_path = ARTIST/TRACK_NUM @@ -1092,9 +1092,9 @@ printc $START, \u$settings{name} starting on: ($track_num) $track_name\n; send_message $parent, type='start', track=$track_num; } - $? = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null; - printc $ERROR, Had an error doing '$command' [$?] -if ($?); + my $system_status = system $command 2/dev/null 1/dev/null; + printc $ERROR, Had an error doing '$command' [$system_status] +if ($system_status); for my $filename (@found) { my ($track_num) = ($filename =~ /$track_regex/); my $track_name = get_cddb_attrib $track_num, TRACK;

Bug#651051: emacs23: display corruption
Package: emacs23 Version: 23.3+1-4 Severity: important Example screenshot - after starting emacs and switching to info: http://charybda.icm.edu.pl/~mpol/emacs.png Today I noticed that my emacs display gets corrupted in at least the following ways: 1. When switching modes (or eg. switching info nodes) lots of old content remains on screen (see the linked screnshot). Resizing the window refreshes the content so that it displays correctly until the next corruption. 2. The cursor location is represented just by the letter under cursor blinking to a lighter color (except when the emacs window is not focused - then the hollow frame cursor is visible). The same problem happens on different user accounts at least under Gnome fallback mode and under awesome WM, both for emacs23 and emacs23-lucid. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages emacs23 depends on: ii emacs23-bin-common 23.3+1-4 ii libasound2 1.0.24.1-4 ii libatk1.0-0 2.2.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6.1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.16-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-3 ii libfreetype62.4.8-1 ii libgconf2-4 2.32.4-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.24.0-1 ii libgif4 4.1.6-9 ii libglib2.0-02.30.2-4 ii libgpm2 1.20.4-4 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.8-2 ii libice6 2:1.0.7-2 ii libjpeg88c-2 ii libm17n-0 1.6.3-1 ii libncurses5 5.9-4 ii libotf0 0.9.12-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.29.4-2 ii libpng12-0 1.2.46-3 ii librsvg2-2 2.34.2-1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.0-2 ii libtiff43.9.5-2 ii libtinfo5 5.9-4 ii libx11-62:1.4.4-4 ii libxft2 2.2.0-3 ii libxpm4 1:3.5.9-4 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.6-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 emacs23 recommends no packages. On Mon, 15 Mar 2010 14:18:48 +0100, Antonin Kral wrote: Hi Michal, could you please check the file /etc/init.d/mongodb ? I am suspicious that it will be symlink: mongodb - /lib/init/upstart-job This is caused by the incorrect implementation of upstart / upgrade path from the upstart script. Please remove the file and reinstall the package. It should solve your problem. Yes, /etc/init.d/mongodb is indeed a link to /lib/init/upstart-job (actually, I wrote about modifying it in the prevoius mail). and removing it lets me remove mongodb. After reinstalling 1.2.2-1 the problem of course repeats. 1.2.4-1 installs and removes correctly, even when mongodb is stopped. -- Michał Politowski Talking has been known to lead to communication if practiced carelessly. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#483464: aptitude: section descriptions are not translated to the locale encoding

Do you get this only in the section descriptions? I can't speak Polish, but when I attempt to run aptitude in ISO-8859-2 I see some odd artifacts elsewhere in the program, such as 1/4 appearing in menu titles. See the attached screen shot, for instance. It looks like Jarek Kaminski was faster than me with the answer, and he is right. With ISO-8859-2 fonts installed, menus etc. look as they should, but the section descriptions display as if they were not recoded from UTF-8, exactly as on his sid screenshot. -- Michał Politowski signature.asc Description: Digital signature
