Still a happy Squeezebox Radio (alarm clock) user. Up until now the back alarm has sounded once (presume the stream was unavailable, or my local wifi was busy) but at least it woke me up. Re: [slim] Creating a Playlist (How???)
How you create a basic playlist depends a lot on which interface you are using. There's the infrared remote (for SB Classic, Boom, Radio, etc), the Duet Controller (for any SB), the SB itself (for Boom, Radio, Transporter, Touch), and the SBS web interface (all SBs except for Touch when running its built-in Squeezebox Server, TinySBS). Which do you want? To get you started, let's take the SBS web interface as an example, since it works for all SBs. You have two panes. On the left is the main menu, which takes you into your music library. On the right is the current playlist. Go through your library, and when you find an album or a track you want to add to the playlist, click on the + button. The track(s) should then appear on current playlist in the right-hand pane. Continue until you've selected all the tunes you want. Note that if you click on a Play icon instead of the + icon, you will replace the contents of the current playlist rather than adding that track to the playlist. Once you have the tracks in the current playlist, you can re-order them by dragging-and-dropping _within_ the right-hand pane. You can also delete tracks in the right-hand pane. If you want to save the playlist for later use, you can click the save icon in the lower right corner, at which point you will be prompted to give a name to the playlist. The playlist will be saved in the directory you specified for playlists under Settings Basic Settings. Making playlists with other interfaces are simply variations on this same theme. Note that you can also make playlists on other software as long as the software can save the playlists as .m3u files. Also note that a lot of other software is better at making playlists than SBS. If you use other software, save or copy the playlist(s) to your SBS playlist directory, rescan playlists, and they will be available to you. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87369 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] How would you like to manage playlists ?
We all know playlist management isn't that good in SBS or Squeezebox user interfaces today and many users tends to use third party applications separately to create a m3u file and then synchronize that with SBS. So, let's start a discussion how you would playlist management to work in SBS. The reason for this discussion is that I feel I need more information what people who use static/saved playlists are missing, before doing anything related to it I feel it's important that I understand what's missing. I'm guessing a good scenario to think about is preparing a playlist for a party or some other special event or situation. I'd like to focus on more advanced playlist management since the simple playlist management more or less already are supported, due to this I think interfaces using the IR remote, Controller or similar small screen devices probably won't be user friendly enough. Also, this is not about dynamic/smart playlists or smart mixes, I'm only talking about static playlists manually managed by a user. Some questions, to start the discussion: 1. What kind of device would you like to use when doing advanced playlist management ? A normal computer/laptop ? A tablet ? A netbook ? Something else ? 2. Do you have any examples of good playlist management user interfaces in some other app which you feel has solved the problem in a good user friendly way ? 3. Is there a reason you would like to continue using the third party application you currently use even if a better user interface for playlist management would be offered through SBS ? 4. Is it important to integrate it with some other application ? For example integration with dragdrop with the operating system file manager or something similar ? 5. In case not already answered in question 2 and 4, do you have some ideas what kind of features or user interface layout you think is important for advanced playlist management ? 6. How do you do advanced playlist management today ? Which app ? From a computer, laptop, tablet or something else ? Feel free to also comment on other issues related to playlist management even though it isn't part of the above questions, I only posted the questions to give you some kind of ideas what I'm looking for. Also, if you post ideas, please try to mention if you feel it's a must have feature or if it's a nice to have feature which isn't critical for a user friendly operation. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). But if you think about it in an A/V setting, three things: On/off - Volume - Content source or selection - account for most of what people do. My point was that I don't think buying decisions are much influenced by apps. If you want to listen to music and you walk into the room, are you going to push some buttons on the front panel or IR remote, or go look for your Touch or Pad and then wait for it to boot up so you can use the app? I don't think people who want to sit on the couch and play with an app represent a large portion of potential buyers. This is a bug of the HTC Desire, when using the sound API I'm using :( Even if I send a lot of 0-samples, one sometimes gets a very short burst at the beginning of playback. I read about a workaround (playing 100msecs of silence via the other sound API) that might minimize this effect and I will play around with it in one of the future version. -- bluegaspode Big Screen for great Boxes available now at your AppStore: *'Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad ' (www.squeezepad.com)* - -now featuring streaming to iPad!- Want to see a Weather Forecast on your Radio/Touch/Controller ? = why not try my 'Weather Forecast Applet' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73827) Want to use the Headphones with your Controller ? = why not try my 'Headphone Switcher Applet' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67139) Setup: 1x SB-Controller+Receiver (Duet), 1xSB-Boom. 2xSB-Radio Server (7.5.x) running on SheevaPlug (Ubuntu) with attached Western Digital MyBook Essential. bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

As far as I know it uses less CPU power on your QNAP than the WebUI - maybe you see better status updates there? If so adding a dialog and then sending the discovery packets to a unicast destination rather than to the broadcast address is all you need to do to support servers on differnet subnets. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87212 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Just out of interest, would this be possible to run on a Logitech Revue and suddenly turn it into a Squeezebox player ? If LMS comes true, then it will be possible to stream to Revue using DLNA anyway. As I've understood Revue isn't supporting Android Market yet ? (At least not unless you hack it) That's correct. But we've been interested in this question as well. Unfortunately the production units have the debug ports disabled (obviously...), but with dev units we have been able to easily install an Android app using adb. I've tested this with one single app only ;-) (the touch UI doesn't make much sense on a 24 full HD screen). AFAIK current Google TV OS isn't a real Android, but some relative. There seem to be plans to converge the two later this year. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'd suggest restarting your server and the App as a start (on Android: Settings-Applications). Then see if it happens again. Maybe just a bad coincidence? If the App is not responding then please wait a while until the window that allows you to force quit it appears. I should get a report later about this type of crash via Google and can analyze it. If it happens again please contact me at support(at)squeezeplayer.com. Re: [slim] Creating a Playlist (How???)
Hi, I located my music on the left pane clicked on the + Nothing moved over to the right panel. The bottom of the panel (the largest portion) is completely blank. The top part has a few controls with a record icon. I tried doing one record at a time All Song and nothing showed up. There probably was no save icon because nothing was there to save. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
Hi folks, just uploaded an update (v1.0.1), fixing the most common bugs from the first 26 hours of operation: - no crash on mono mp3 anymore - no crash when MAC address cannot be resolved on first start (due to turned off WiFi) - no crash when one deletes the port number in the manual server settings - no crash when one enters invalid characters (spaces, umlauts) as the manual server address Thanks for sending over the crash reports! Started to work on 24bit FLAC, but am too tired to finish tonight. More progress on that at the end of the weekend. -- bluegaspode Big Screen for great Boxes available now at your AppStore: *'Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad ' (www.squeezepad.com)* - -now featuring streaming to iPad!- Want to see a Weather Forecast on your Radio/Touch/Controller ? = why not try my 'Weather Forecast Applet' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73827) Want to use the Headphones with your Controller ? = why not try my 'Headphone Switcher Applet' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67139) Setup: 1x SB-Controller+Receiver (Duet), 1xSB-Boom. 2xSB-Radio Server (7.5.x) running on SheevaPlug (Ubuntu) with attached Western Digital MyBook Essential. bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Amazing, simply amazing! It took four tries until Google would allow me to buy your app, but boy, best $1.50 I've spent in a while. Samsung Vibrant and Nook Color both showing up as independent players in SBS just like any hardware player. Controlled from SqueezeCommander and Squidget on the same device. Even Pandora works flawless so far (I know it's not supposed to, hope this is not a 'bug' ;)) Will report back if I run across any issues (none so far). -- arris arris's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37909 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
