[Freevo-users] List of bookmarks in a submenu - how to get there?

2009-05-04 Thread mclusky
This is my first post here.
I use Freevo 1.8.1 with Xine as the preferred movie player controlled
with LIRC (all based on Ubuntu 9.04/ratpoison as GUI).
I faced the problem with bookmark menu.
During movie playback I am able to save bookmarks with [REC] button
(bookmark file is created in freevo cache folder).
But I have no idea how to bring the 'bookmark menu' during play/replay.
There is an information in bookmarker.py: to get back there, choose the
actions button in the menu, and it'll have a list of bookmarks in a
submenu.
The main problem is - I have no idea which 'actions button' had in mind
plugin developer. I tried buttons associated with SELECT, ENTER and
BOOKMARK in
lircrc file - no result.
I hope this is some basic problem.
Any help is welcome.

Re: [Freevo-users] xine tv - problem with liverecord and channel change

2009-05-04 Thread Evan Hisey

Unfortunately I am unable to change channels and start live record.
While I am pressing the CH+/CH- buttons I get OSD message with name of
new channel together with name of new TV program, but this doesn't
affect to the displayed channel which remains the same all the time.
While I am pressing the [REC] button I get OSD message that recording
has just started, but related record-file doesn't appear.

ivtv_xine_tv.py plugin contains information about xine requirements:
        - xine media player (built with xvmc / xxmc if available)
          version xine-lib: = 1.1.9
          version xine-ui: = 0.99.6
Those requirements are not exactly met (packages from Ubuntu 9.04 distro):
 xine-ui: 0.99.5+cvs20070914-2.1~lenny2ubuntu1
 xine-lib: 1.1.16.3-0ubuntu1
As you can see my xine-ui version is lower than 0.99.6 - but I couldn't
find source of exactly 0.99.6 to compile it.
To get the some of ivtv xine features to work you need to use the CVS
release of the xine-ui as they have not released a 99.6 or higher yet.

I think that the action button means the navigate buttons, so when the
video is selected then press the 'E' key or the ENTER button on the
remote and then there is a sub-menu that shows another menu and the
bookmarks should be in the sub-menu.

2009-05-04 Thread Joe Hildreth
I think I would still have the same problem.

Say I mounted disk one as /Movies/Disk1 and disk two as /Movies/Disk2

I have been keeping movies on Disk one (750GB) and serials on disk two (500GB)
The problem is disk two is full. Both devices are usb 2.0 drives. I have
tried the following with no luck on Ubuntu 8.04

1) I have modified the video entry to:

 'Serials', '/media/disk1/serials/', '/media/disk2/serials/'

this just shows the first disk.

2) I have modified the video entry to:

 'Serials', '/media/disk1/serials/'
 'Serials', '/media/disk2/serials/'

this gives me two links to serials

3) I have tried to create a symbolic link from disk one to disk two, but the
OS tells me that the operation is not permitted.

So far I have been using #2 above.

I think that would be a feature request if it cannot be done.

Thanks for reply. It was just what I thought. But - as I mentioned - I
tried to use ENTER button (and I checked it twice a moment ago) with no

because xine window get focus).
It seems to me I will have to made some modifications to plugin to get
it work, unless someone bring some workaround.

[Freevo-users] xine tv - problem with liverecord and channel change

2009-05-04 Thread mclusky
I have problem with xine tv plugins.
I've been browsing mailing-list for some time to find some workaround -
but without success, so I ask for help.
I use Freevo 1.8.1 - deb package from Ubuntu 9.04

First of all I noticed, that parameters:
config.XINE_TV_VO_DEV and config.XINE_TV_AO_DEV
are not passed to ivtv_xine_tv.py plugin correctly (inside plugin they
got 'None' value). That makes blank screen with no sound. I made
workaround by assigning values directly inside ivtv_xine_tv.py just
before 'xine pvr:/...' is called.

After that I am able to run tv-guide and then watch tv with seeking
backward/forward and pausing on the fly (200MB cache files are stored
properly to HDD).

As you can see my xine-ui version is lower than 0.99.6 - but I couldn't
find source of exactly 0.99.6 to compile it.
As it comes to xine built with xvmc/xxmc - it seems to me that xine is
compiled with those modes, bacause I can play movies from command line:

Thanks for reply.
I am confused a little now about current version of xine-ui under Ubuntu
9.04.
I made some basic investigation to find out that xine-ui represents just
/usr/bin/xine, which introduces itself as v0.99.6cvs. But as I mentioned
packages manager reports xine-ui as 0.99.5+cvs20070914-2.1 - that is why
I am confused.
I've downloaded cvs version of xine-ui and successfully compiled, but
packages manager seems to miss it which indicates that something went
wrong (I hope to find some howto about installing xine-0.99.6cvs).
Any pointing to related howtos are welcome.

[Freevo-users] no headlines found

2009-05-04 Thread cornelius
Hello freevoers,

I set up a new freevo-box based on ubuntu 8.04 with a 1.8.3 freevo on
it. Most things are fine so far.
Only thing is, the headlines are not displayed. I was using the 1.7
freevo earlier, where the headlines worked out fine.

All rss feeds I was trying are not working.

I boiled it down to the default example.

HEADLINES_LOCATIONS = [
(Top Stories, http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories;),
(Most Emailed, http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/mostemailed;),
(Word of the Day, http://www.dictionary.com/wordoftheday/wotd.rss;),
(Digg, http://digg.com/rss/index.xml;),
(Slashdot, http://slashdot.org/index.rss;),
(Anime BitTorrents, http://www.downloadanime.org/torrentrss.php;) ]

Does not work either.

How does freevo fetch the headlines?
I tried to check if python url grabbers that are used in headlines.py
 are installed.
Looked good.

Any idea?

Kind regards
Cornelius

UnionFS is probably a better way to go, I did not know you could do this!

LVM does have some advantages though.

OK, I haven't worked with unionsfs lately but a few years ago I had
troubles with it.
Unionfs/aufs is mostly used in other cases but I think it could also
work in Joe's situation, shouldn't it?
I would test it first with both partitions in read only mode :)

LVM does have some advantages though.

Yes, I forget to mention that LVM ist also an option, that's of course
the usual way to merge partitions in *nix.
But it sounded to me that the OP doesn't have the place to backup the
data (what's afaik needed to initialize the LVM).

Manne

How does freevo fetch the headlines?
I tried to check if python url grabbers that are used in headlines.py

 Looked good.

 Any idea?

I think that the action button means the navigate buttons, so when the
video is selected then press the 'E' key or the ENTER button on the
remote and then there is a sub-menu that shows another menu and the
bookmarks should be in the sub-menu.

 Duncan

Thanks for reply. It was just what I thought. But - as I mentioned - I
tried to use ENTER button (and I checked it twice a moment ago) with no
result. So there must be some bug ('E' key cannot be used under X11
 because xine window get focus).
It seems to me I will have to made some modifications to plugin to get
it work, unless someone bring some workaround.

 Maciej
You need to be in the freevo menu with the video you want to resume
highlighted then hit 'E' and you'll get freevo's submenu which should
show the bookmarks. There's no way at the moment to access that once
you're in xine.

Hi again,

the configuration was alright. Strange enough, i realized there were
some remnants of a freevo 1.8.1 installation, which obviously were used.
After deleting the directories of the old 1.8.1 everything worked fine.
Was an unpleasant error, since also the debugging logs gave no clue.

Kind regards
Cornelius
