You have the supercharger and gravity puller by default in the demo. All the
upgrades are activated automatically as soon as you get them, so you don't
need to do anything about them now.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth phantom assassin

2007-06-18 Thread Bryan Peterson
Taydrii's Warsword can be found in Tallys' Trading Post outside Trithik, but
it's very xpensive. The only reason I have it now is because I had some
Adventurer Tokens from the various Proving Grounds and I was able over time
to donate enough money to trade in the necessary bonus points to get more
tokens. But it is well worth the price, as is the Gryphon Emblazoned Shield,
which has an MR of 14. So ideally you would add another forty points to your
MR with both those items, but again they're quite spendy so you may have to
wait if you do want them both.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth phantom assassin

2007-06-18 Thread Shadow Dragon
Taydrii's warsword is the best weapon you can buy from Tallys's trading
post. If you don't feel like donating for tokens, or can't gather up enough
of them from proving grounds and such things, you can always go for the
exalted diamond longsword. You can get that in A Hauting in Dirnsig. Its one
of the random items you get at the end if you haven't already done that
quest. Tsal Kagoth is another alternative, its roughly the exact same as the
exalted diamond longsword, with 18 melee and about the same stat boosts, but
it slowly drops your characters alignment as you use it. Hmm. Other than
that I'm not sure what you could replace the hale blade with if you've
already exhausted all those options. I suppose you could snag demonscourge
provided your weaponry bashing levels are decent, that's a pretty nice
weapon. The giantfell blade from stonesong in my opinion is also a little
better than the Hale Blade. Personally I'd recommend donating for some
adventurers tokens and buying awesome equipment from Tallys's, but if you
don't have money to throw around I guess there are other alternatives.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth phantom assassin

2007-06-18 Thread Xiao Long Nu
Hello Ron,
My mistake. I thought you meant you were looking for a better weapon from
the Phantom Assassin. Shadow dragon is right. The sword he is talking
about is available from Tally's for 232 Adventurer Tokens. Also, just as an
after thought, another weapon you may want to consider is the Demonscourge
which is available at no charge once you have completed the Runeskin
adventures. It is a bashing weapon with 15 melee with an additional 40
melee when facing demons. Another to consider is the giantfell blade which
is a slashing weapon with 10 melee and plus 20 against giants. This is
found by completing the giants part 3. Of corse, there are other weapons
through Tally's, but it all depends on how many adventure tokens you have
and plan to spend. If you are not planning to spend any tokens however, the
demonscourge or giantfell blade might be a good idea. Although the
demonscourge has more melee, it still depends on whether or not you have the
weaponry subskills of weaponry bashing and weaponry slashing and how high is
your current level with each. If you are looking for more melee, the ring
you will get for defeating the phantom assassin will give 5 melee and if you
haven't defeated runeskin yet, you might want to do that because you will
get the runeskin's ring with will give 5 melee and 5 stamina. That's all I
can think of for now. Hope that helps.

There's easily better weapons than the hale blade. Taydrii's Warsword is
much better, with a masssive 26 melee rating boost. The hale blade is a
great weapon simply for its full heals, but those only come about
occasionally and now with shadow magic, you can heal yourself manually
anyway. Or restoration if you have it. I'd personally recommend switching
the hale blade out if you're still using it. Its up to you though if you're
willing to sacrifice 20 or so points of melee rating for full heals.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth's New Power?

2007-06-18 Thread Shadow Dragon
Yeah, that's true. Back before the test servers went down, I did a bit of
experimenting with powers and such, destruction at level 100 can do easily
upwards of 100 damage. I have no idea what shadow magic can do at anything
above 40, but I assume all that happens is you get bigger melee boosts and
possible more stamina restoration. Either way, they both have their
benefits, shadow magic is good against battles where you'd have to roll
anything above a 12, if you use destruction there you're still likely to
take damage, whereas shadow magic now will allow you to keep your combat
roll up while still dishing out damage. Plus, I love the concept of shadows
swarming around your opponent, guiding your hand so that your blade strikes
vital points every time. I do find it odd that shadows that have a basis in
the necromantic realm would heal you, but what can ya do? *grin*

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth's New Power?

2007-06-18 Thread Xiao Long Nu
Hello ShadowDragon,
That may be true, but I do think if you are willing to take destruction to
that ridiculous level, it has more benefits than shadow magic. Take for
example, if a player with say 60 shadow magic takes on someone with 70
destruction, shadow magic still wouldn't heal enough from the damage taken
from destruction. Lets say shadow magic made your dice role a 19, and you
do 26 damage and heal 5, 70 destruction does an average of 30 to 35 damage
so destruction still has an upper hand. Then again, you can role a 20 and
do 39 damage, but there's also a chance that 70 destruction can do over 40
and occasionally 50 damage.
However, I do like the fact that shadow magic is the only power that
allows you to use your weapon while using magic.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth phantom assassin

2007-06-18 Thread Bryan Peterson
Sryth is a browser based fantasy game. You control a hero you create s he or
she explores the kingdom of Tysa, embarking on all manner of quests and
collecting various tems, weapons and pieces of armor. You might also have
the chance to learn magic if you create a character with the right stats.
Part of the game is free, but you get a lot more content if you subscribe,
and the price is more than reasonable considering all you get. If you're
interested in learning more about the game or joining the adventure, the URL
is www.sryth.com. Because it's largely text based it works excellently with
screeen readers. Even what graphics there are have handy text tags that make
it possible for us to know what they represent. Ever since he discovered
that manyof his players were blind, he's become extremely committed to
keeping the game as accessible as possible. I've been playing for nearly
three years.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth phantom assassin

2007-06-18 Thread Xiao Long Nu
Hello Ron,
You receive a weapon each time you defeat the phantom assassin or one of his
members. They are decent weapons, but I can't think of one that is better
than the hail blade. However, those are set weapons. You will also receive
a good ring after you defeat the phantom assassin himself. At the end of
the adventure, you will be told that there are more items that can be found.
Unfortunately, these are not set, but they are no longer available. Those
items are the same as the ones found in the pumpkin patch adventure. If
your melee is in the high 60's to 70's, then you shouldn't have any
problems.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth's New Power?

2007-06-18 Thread Xiao Long Nu
Hello Ron,
If you complete all of the Runeskin adventures, then you will have the
chance to get the new power. I will include how you get it below:
S
P
O
I
L
E
R
S
P
A
C
E

At the very last adventure in silverwisp, you will receive a box of runes
where you have the opportunity to choose 6. If you choose 1 arcana, 1
illusion, and 1 necromancy among those 6 then you have the chance to get the
power of Shadow Magic. You have to make sure you place the above 3 runes in
an idle, (you will be given instructions on how to find the idle at the end
of the adventure). Hope that helps.

If you are having trouble with the rail racer demo, please write to me off
list so we don't clutter things up here.
Out of nearly 600 downloads, only a handful of people have had trouble,
and almost all of them were because of not having the framework installed or
not having the latest version of direct x.
Check your read me file that came with the demo for a link to the direct x

If this does not fix your problem, please write to me off list at:

[Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-18 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. I don't know if anyone can help with this but, here's my
problem. I'm looking for a mud with a modern day feel that would allow me
to role play if I want. It would have vehicles that you can actually drive
where you could put in a destination and it would actually take time to
drive there. I'd like something where you could work and do odd jobs and
interact with people to accomplish those jobs. And I want something with
something of a different feel to it in a mud. Its really hard to explain
exactly what it is I want, but I'll know it when I find it. Godwars Ii is
different in its own way than most other muds out there, and achaea is also
different from most in the feel of it and how it functions. But, there just
isn't any easy way to find that elusive treasure of a game that really makes
you want to keep coming back for more and grow a character after time. I
know of miriani, but I'm looking for something a bit more um down to earth?
I just don't know how to put what i want in to words but I think if you've
had to really search for that game you just like out of the load of games
out there, you'll know kind of what I mean. Thanks much,
Scott

2007-06-18 Thread Ka Yat Li
Hi:

I think I know why you still can't run the game. Even though you've hit
enter on the file all it does is extract it and not install it. You'll need
to find where you've extracted the files to and hit enter on the EXE and
that will install it. Hope it helps.

[Audyssey] rail racer

2007-06-18 Thread Josh
Hi,

Well I beat the catch me if you can difficulty a couple of times so far. I
used some nitros and quick shifting and monitoring of my rpm's and I beat it
and so far I have ninety one thousand dollars. So how do I get to class
three? I'm on at class two so far I think. Do I need one hundred thousand
dollars to get up to a class three?
It took careful use of nitros just at the right time to beat art. a
combination of carefully used nitros and carefully placed shifting let me
beat art on the catch me if you can difficulty at raceing at ten laps. I got
12000 dollars. How did you guys do on the rail racer demo so far. come on,
share your experiences here! this game is cool!

Re: [Audyssey] rail racer demo, it can't run

2007-06-18 Thread Neo
If you have used this dxwebsetup, then there's no need to copy any info
about Directx. It should be right now.
Then you should probably check windows update for any express and important
updates as well as the optional ones, especially look for anything regarding
the .net Framework. Don't download 3.0 - it's not very backwards compatible.
Try to find the latest updates and hotfixes for 1.1, or .net framework 2.0,
but not 3.0.
Hope this helps,
Lukas

Re: [Audyssey] rail racer

Hi,
You most definitely need nitros, and your gear ratio should be more like 1.1
or 1.2. gear 0.6 is for very tight tracks, with a lot of turns and force
fields.

Re: [Audyssey] rail racer

2007-06-18 Thread Neo
You could probably increase your gear ratio even to 1. With the
supercharger, you should accelerate rather quickly. Now, it's a deal to bear
art on the pro level even on the class 1 tracks without the supercharger.
And with the mouse when you're not used to it. ;)
Just try increasing the ratio gradually. You might not perhaps accelerate
with 0.6 as with 1, but the top speed will increase a great deal.
It's also great to use nitro when you loose speed in the loops (in fact
right at the beginning of a loop) or when there's a long section where you
can go straight ahead without any obstacles and gather speed. Be careful
though, as nitro burns out a load of additional fuel.

Hi,

I so far beat the catch me if you can level of the demo set to ten laps with
a gear ratio of .06 and wing angle of 2 degrees. I'm working on the rail
racer pro level but can't seem to beat it yet. maybe I need nitros? any tips

In the top right corner, if you follow the passageway toward where the fire
should be, similar to the otherthree courners, you will find that there is
no fire there. Follow the path to find the ghost who will assemble the
demonscourge hammer for you. Then, go kill the demon that you encounter
after passing through the fire that doesn't hurt you. Be sure to read the
description on the page once you kill him, because it will give you the
number for the second dial on the door. The first dial on the door
represents the number of sides on the impression you touched in the previous
adventure. Hint: the shape is engraved on the plaque on the door. The second
dial you set with the number you get after killing the demon. After opening
the door, kill the demon you find. At this point, I recommend you return to
silverwhisp and save your game. Go back in, and give Runeskin his due.

[Audyssey] arcade games

2007-06-18 Thread Nicol Oosthuizen

which can be viewed at http://www.sars.gov.za/Email_Disclaimer.pdf

HI all
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but why is some games such
as pack man and sarah called arcade games?
Here in south africa I have only heard the word arcade when they refer
to a shopping mall. Here in south Africa they call some shopping malls
an arcade. What does the word arcade in America mean? Why are sarah
and pack man called arcade games?
Btw phil I'm very worried if my money order for sarah has been received
by draconis. I sent them a mail where I included you in the cc
field. I sent them the money order on 11 may and its now already a month
and a week later and I have heard nothing.
When I posted my money order for pipe2 I got my registration key within
a week.
I understand that they take long to process orders and generate keys,
I'm just very worried if my money has been received.
Please follow up phil
Thanks in advance

No, backgammon is different. You start with fifteen pieces, as does
your
opponent. Your goal is to get all of your pieces "home" before your
opponent does. You get to move your pieces based on the results of die
rolls. If one of your pieces lands on a single piece of your opponents,
your opponent's piece gets sent back to the beginning, and has to start
toward home all over again. Of course, the same is true if your
opponent
lands on one of your single pieces.

To avoid this, you try to make sure that more than one of your pieces
occupies a space. If there are two or more pieces of the same color on
a
space, then the opponent can't land on that space.

There's more, but those are the basics of the game.

Hi Daniel
I tried out both games.
I will reply inline to your questions.
Were the instructions helpful in teaching you how to play the games?
Oh yes,, very clear.
How long did it take you to have a good understanding of how to play
each version of the game?
Not long at all. When playing the first time I understood it already.
Which version, FingerDance1 or FingerDance2, was easier to play and why?
I find both versions tricky.
But I prefer version1 because my ear is tuned into drums much better
than to sliding sounds. I can react quicker to drum rolls.
I sometimes find that when I press the correct letter I still hear an
error sound. A fraction of a second after *I heard the high drum sound
in the left speaker for instance, I press q but then I hear an error
sound. This only happens sometimes. Some times if I press the correct
letter a fraction of a second after that specific drum roll I hear the
clap sound, but sometimes itplays the error sound.
I further suggest that after the drum roll played and there is about 2
seconds silence on the left that the game should still accept the
letter I press. IN other words: I hear a high drum roll on the left,
then I hear say 2 drum rolls from the right and then one from the left
again, so while that 2 drums rolls in the right speaker are playing, I
should be able to press the one that played on the left.
I hope my explanation is clear.
If you played each game more than once, what was your score the first
time you played it and what was your score the last time you played it?
The score will be spoken at the end of the game in terms of a ranking.
For example, you score could be terrible, pretty good, very good, or
incredible.
My first score was terrible; my last score was not very good.
Were the games fun and/or interesting?
Oh yes, these kind of games improves my reaction time and also hand ear
coordination.
Do you think that the gameplay ideas presented by FingerDance could be
used to make a fun Rhythm-Action audio game that you would like to play?
Oh yes.
If you could, how would you improve these games?
My suggestion here is that you create a game that will test the gamer's
reaction to various keystrokes. It can work like this: while the song is
playing, a voice speaks different keystrokes such as letters, numbers,
punctuation keys as well as hot keys such as shift+down arrow. And then
you only have a few seconds to press that keystroke before the next one
is spoken.

Re: [Audyssey] New rhythm-action audio game. Need some testers to help with research project.

2007-06-18 Thread Ken the Crazy
Okay, here's what I think.
First, let me brag a bit--I got a perfect score the second time I played the
one with the sliding synth. I thought the synth sounds themselves were a
bit obnoxious, but quickly realized what great cues they are. I like the
drum sounds better, but I can't get better than "terrible." I think one
reason is that there are differing lengths--sometimes you only get a half
beat lead-in, sometimes a whole beat, sometimes just a quarter beat. Also,
I wouldn't use toms for both the low and high--maybe a kick bass for the low
and a tom or bongo for the high, but they have to be distinct--and also,
varied lead times is good but you'll need different sounds--a low tom for a
quarter beat lead-in, booming kick for a half beat lead-in, a rolling snare
for a whole beat lead-in and so on. You wouldn't even need to add more
keys--but I would add two more in, for center speaker sounds to make it even
harder. Also, the music should get progressively more interesting and the
cues, which should blend in pretty well, more and more frequent. I really
like the concept though, and I hope you keep working on it. It would be
nice if we could hook up a DDR mat to the computer and actually dance to the
cues.
