Re: [Audyssey] the entombed game
Hi josh, The ability to summon animals depends on your job class. For example I am currently using a half-elf with the Druid job class. He can summon bats, rats, wolves, and other dungeon animals to a battle to distract or attack a hord of enemies. It is not quite as powerful as a nechromancer's power to summon the dead, but is helpful. On 2/27/10, Josh wrote: > Hi > > I did not know you could summon creatures to help fight. Re: [Audyssey] the entombed game
Hi, Well, I definitely haven't made it down to the final level, and that hasn't been from a lack of trying. It took me quite a while to get a handle on really playing the game getting a proper character with the proper balancing skills, and so on. Currently I am roming level 5, and I'm not doing too bad now. My main character, a fighter mage, named Cassandra Arilon just got killed in a major battle on level 5 which has me pretty ticked off. However, the half-elf, I named Alair Eadan, is now stepping into the leadership roll. He and my animal companion, a wolf named Lupercus, are forging on without Cassandra. I gave Alair most of Cassandra's good weapons and armour and he can hold his own in a fight. Especially, when he casts those lightning bolts he can hit two and some times three enemies at once with 20 points of damage. So bad guys beware Alair Eadan the kick butt elf is here. Lol! So at any rate I'm just about to enter level 6. I've got a quest down there anyway, and hopefully I'm ready to take on that quest. I'm short a party member already, and I'm down to Alair and Lupercus. Of course, I can always summon a ratt, bat, or wolf to aid in the battles, but those aren't the same as having fighters, mages, etc on your side. Cassandra was wicked when she cast fire bolts at an enemy, and I don't have her abilities any more. Grr... Anyway, I'd be interested to know how many party memers is typical for the game, and what it taks to reach the final level of Entombed. I'm ready to start level 6 and i've just about gotten my clock cleaned several times. Some of those fights got pretty hairy when the enemies started summoning skeletons, bats, ratts, wolfs, and everything else to slug the odds in their favor. Cut one bad guy down and he gets raised from the dead and gives it another go, and is twice as hard to kill than he was when he was alive. This game is challenging, but is also fun too because you never know what nasty tricks those creeps have up their sleave. Hi, One thing I want is the documentation in say, a text file, included with the game. It is slightly impractical to have to go onlineto learn how to play an RPG like this (orany other game, for that matter). Re: [Audyssey] the entombed game
Actually Bryan, hp makes a significant difference in that each individual body part, head and torso included gets more hp per level, thus can take more damage in combat. Also, as far as magic goes, in my last game I found both the druid class with lightning, and the mages' shrink ability very useful, especially on animal enemies. The Tricksters' chalm ability can also be very powerful. In general entombed is a game with very individualized stratogy, and one where you have to work quite hard at making use of certain abilities. The potions thing is an issue, however Jason has said he will squash that particular bug in th future. Beware the Grue! Well, I chatted to Jason about the original on the audiogames.net forums, tested the private alpha, joined first the forums then the mailing list which I currently moderate, bought the game when it first came out and have been trying to promote it as much as possible. Either I think the game is awsome, or I'm an amazing glutten for punishment who spends all day hitting himself in the head with a spiky wooden club! This is of course insane! the game is! awsome! absolutely and completely so, and one of the most revolutionary things to happen to audiogames ever in the history of everything! and besides, why would I bother wasting money on a spiky self-hitting club, when a simple tree branche does just as well! clonk! Re: [Audyssey] the entombed game
I think the largest strength the game has is how long it can keep you playing. So many possibilities and so many random factors, it's definitely not one of those games where you play it to the end and then never touch again. Soundwise, I don't know if Jason is aiming for an old-school feel on purpose, but it is how it seems to me. The combat sounds especially, are not as impressive as most modern fighting RPGs, but that might just be a preference thing on the maker's part. The musics are real grand, and some spell effects do sound very nice- try that lightning! As far as bugs go, since the game's so huge, it's ahrd to iron out everything yet, but what bugs there are do not stop one from having a great time. "No one ever kicked ass by saying I can't." I think the music's better than the sound effects overall, especially if you manage to survive long enough to get down to the final floor of the dungeon. The music there is a haunting, almost poignant lead-up to the final battle, although I do wish there was a different theme for more boss battles. Tired of Microsoft Windows and paying thousands for screen-readers? try out NVDA, get a mac--, nvda--for Windows, or try out and switch to grml, Ubuntu, Vinux, or knoppix-adriane Linux desktops.
