Thanks, nice tune, very catchy vocals, funny cartoons, liked the
arrangement too, quote from the song:

With every release,
Puffy becomes better,
so much better all the time.

Indeed, and very rewarding experience using OpenBSD. Quite like the
flite touch in the song too, reads mail subjects here so familiar
"voice".

Pre-orders for 5.8

2015-08-19 Thread Joerg Jung
To celebrate the upcoming 20 years anniversary release of OpenBSD,
four (instead of the usual one) songs are contributed and will be
included in the release. The song I contributed is being released
today:

By the way, pre-orders for 5.8 CDs and posters were enabled moments ago.

Also, please see:

openbsd 5.8 pre-orders

2015-08-19 Thread Theo de Raadt
We have just activated pre-orders for openbsd 5.8. The release date
is oct 18, which seems a long time from now. This is being stretched
out to ensure the CD2 production problems happen again.

Oct 18, 2015 is the 20th anniversary of the creation of the CVS tree
that we develop all our software in. For the file src/Makefile it
happened at 08:37 Calgary time, so I presume I was doing an all-nighter...
That is effectively the the birth of OpenBSD. anoncvs started up a few
months later...

We have activated pre-orders for the OpenBSD 5.7 CDs.

See www.openbsd.org/57.html for more details about what is coming
in this release; near the top there is a link to pre-order these

Release date will be May 1.

And there is something else. Five years ago we made available an

expensive, so please consider buying this as well when you place any

Pre-orders for 5.1, and the new song!

2012-03-13 Thread Theo de Raadt
It is that time again. I have just activated pre-orders for CDs,
tshirts, and posters for the 5.1 release -- due May 1.

http://openbsd.org/orders.html

At the same time, I am making available the song that will come out
with the release (hmm, it is still moving out to the ftp mirrors at
the moment, but that is ok). The song and details of it are linked
from:

http://openbsd.org/lyrics.html

And there is something else. Five years ago we made available an
Audio CD that contained 5 years of songs. Well, we have made a new
audio CD since enough new songs have been made. It is not very
expensive, so please consider buying this as well when you place any
order. It has some rather nice liner notes. Had some great fun
coming up with the cover for that CD:

   http://openbsd.org/images/cdaudio2.gif

I'd also like you remind you that Michael Lucas new "SSH Mastery" book
is also now available, in case anyone was waiting for the 5.1 release
to place one order.

http://openbsd.org/books.html#book9

Please consider purchasing these items and/or making a donation, since
this is a very important revenue source which keeps the project going.

I think the link to "OpenCompany" (Italy) should be dropped.
They list OpenBSD 4.5 as the "current" version and mention being out of
stock until that one arrives.

The last update to the front page was somewhere in 2008 -- it looks
rather abandoned...

pre-orders for 5.0

2011-09-07 Thread Theo de Raadt
I have activated pre-orders for the 5.0 release -- it is scheduled for
official release on Nov 1 on the FTP sites. As usual, we try to get
CDs in people's hands slightly a few days before that.

http://www.openbsd.org/orders.html

There are two tshirts available. It's roughly the same image, but it
comes in both white and black.

http://www.openbsd.org/tshirts.html#35

At the same time, I am also releasing the song to accompany the art
for this release.

http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html#50

Please keep in mind that donations and CD/tshirt/poster sales, done
twice a year, are crucial to the continuation of the project. It may
seem strange to keep selling such out-dated types of items and
expecting it to keep the project afloat, but so it goes. As collector
items they do pay expenses around here.

Besides donations done along with a CD or tshirt purchase, there are
a few other options for donations and described at:

http://www.openbsd.org/donations.html

Thanks for continuing to let us make OpenBSD.

Here in Canada there is no standard for clothes that are sold in
S,M,L,XL,XXL,etc sizes. Actual size/fit varies by manufacturer.

Theo: Are hoodies and T-shirts made by same company?

If yes, there is a better chance of knowing in advance if XXL hoodie is
made in same size as XXL T-shirt.

What size you get/like also depends on how tight you want the fit to be.

I hate so much people posting photos of the latest OpenBSD CDs sets
while I'm not having it yet that I ordered them as soon as I read the
announcement.

Maybe I beat you, I didn't boast, because I didn't really know what to
say appart from "AWESOME!!!" or "THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!" and since
capitalize letters and multiple exclamation points are kinda silly I
just gave money and remained silent :).

Hmm.. where exactly does one find his/her order number? Mine is just a
date-timestmp.

Hey guys,
usually when Theo puts out the pre-order message there is a flood of
messages about who has ordered what and, although it's no genuine race,
there are many who kinda compete to be first.

I'm #13 so twelve guys beat me and they aren't even boasting. WTF?

Only two related messages on undeadly.org

C'mon don't you like your new CDs and swag?

Order up!

The song's pretty good too and it's free to download.

I've turned on OpenBSD 4.9 pre-orders. Support us by buying something
please. These sales are a part of keeping the project going.

As for clothing... there's going to be a black hoodie this time.

Of course there is an OpenBSD 4.9 song to go with the new artwork.
That is at:

Enjoy!

OpenBSD 4.8 pre-orders are up

2010-09-08 Thread Theo de Raadt
OpenBSD 4.8 can now be pre-ordered. The release date will be Nov 1.
As usual, the CDs will ship a bit before the official release.

http://www.openbsd.org/48.html

Some of the webpage content does not yet show what is coming in 4.8.
Please be patient with us as we try to add those details. (Many of
you already know the real shining achievement for the release is
suspend-resume for ACPI-based laptops, but there are many other
things).

Pre-orders are up at the North American order site, as well as the
European site:

http://www.openbsd.org/orders.html

or directly to:

https://https.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/order
http://www.openbsdeurope.com/

This release has no tshirt. The main reason is that the release
artwork didn't go nicely onto a tshirt which could "stand on it's
own"; we also failed to design a non-release related piece of art as
an alternative. We would be very happy if people bought some of the
older tshirts though! Next release, there will be a tshirt again.

I am also making the song available at the same time. As usual, that
page contains a taste of the release artwork.

That's before the 4.7 release was even done.

You order 4.6, not 4.7 right?
