Pre-orders for 5.8
To celebrate the upcoming 20 years anniversary release of OpenBSD, four (instead of the usual one) songs are contributed and will be included in the release. The song I contributed is being released today: http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html#58c By the way, pre-orders for 5.8 CDs and posters were enabled moments ago. Also, please see: http://www.openbsd.org/58.html for more details about what is coming in this release.

openbsd 5.8 pre-orders
We have just activated pre-orders for openbsd 5.8. The release date is oct 18, which seems a long time from now. This is being stretched out to ensure the CD2 production problems happen again. Oct 18, 2015 is the 20th anniversary of the creation of the CVS tree that we develop all our software in. For the file src/Makefile it happened at 08:37 Calgary time, so I presume I was doing an all-nighter... That is effectively the the birth of OpenBSD. anoncvs started up a few months later...

We have activated pre-orders for the OpenBSD 5.7 CDs. See www.openbsd.org/57.html for more details about what is coming in this release; near the top there is a link to pre-order these CDs, which are a component of funding for the developments in OpenBSD... Release date will be May 1.

Absolute OpenBSD 2nd Edition pre-orders are up.
Pre-orders for the 2nd Edition of Michael Lucas' Absolute OpenBSD are now up on the main order website. Expected to arrive about the same time we start shipping pre-orders for OpenBSD 5.3. Pre-orders for the latter will show up pretty soon as well. No special early discount, but the difference does go to support the project. Or, if you need to pinch those pennies (before they are discontinued), take the early order path suggested by Michael's website, rather than through the big online monopoly. pre-orders for 5.0
I have activated pre-orders for the 5.0 release -- it is scheduled for official release on Nov 1 on the FTP sites. As usual, we try to get CDs in people's hands slightly a few days before that. http://www.openbsd.org/orders.html There are two tshirts available. It's roughly the same image, but it comes in both white and black. http://www.openbsd.org/tshirts.html#35 At the same time, I am also releasing the song to accompany the art for this release. http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html#50 Please keep in mind that donations and CD/tshirt/poster sales, done twice a year, are crucial to the continuation of the project. It may seem strange to keep selling such out-dated types of items and expecting it to keep the project afloat, but so it goes. As collector items they do pay expenses around here. Besides donations done along with a CD or tshirt purchase, there are a few other options for donations and described at: http://www.openbsd.org/donations.html http://www.openbsdfoundation.org/ Thanks for continuing to let us make OpenBSD.
Re: OpenBSD 4.9 pre-orders
Here in Canada there is no standard for clothes that are sold in S,M,L,XL,XXL,etc sizes. Actual size/fit varies by manufacturer. Theo: Are hoodies and T-shirts made by same company? If yes, there is a better chance of knowing in advance if XXL hoodie is made in same size as XXL T-shirt. What size you get/like also depends on how tight you want the fit to be. OpenBSD 4.8 pre-orders are up
OpenBSD 4.8 can now be pre-ordered. The release date will be Nov 1. As usual, the CDs will ship a bit before the official release. http://www.openbsd.org/48.html Some of the webpage content does not yet show what is coming in 4.8. Please be patient with us as we try to add those details. (Many of you already know the real shining achievement for the release is suspend-resume for ACPI-based laptops, but there are many other things). Pre-orders are up at the North American order site, as well as the European site: http://www.openbsd.org/orders.html or directly to: https://https.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/order http://www.openbsdeurope.com/ This release has no tshirt. The main reason is that the release artwork didn't go nicely onto a tshirt which could "stand on it's own"; we also failed to design a non-release related piece of art as an alternative. We would be very happy if people bought some of the older tshirts though! Next release, there will be a tshirt again. I am also making the song available at the same time. As usual, that page contains a taste of the release artwork. http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html
