Re: [Mjpeg-users] mjpeg questions
Hallo We are a group of undergraduate students presently working on our undergraduate thesis. One of the things that we have to do initially is to digitize videos which we have recorded using a Sony Video Camera Recorder (CCD-TRV16 NTSC). Is it possible to do this using MJPEG tools? I know it is possible to do video recording via mjpeg tools, but what about capturing what we have already recorded on the video tape and then saving it on our computer in AVI format? As I understand, once we have avi files, we can use mjpeg to separate images (what we actually need for our thesis). If that Recorder can output the video to fire-wire you might be able to capture it with dvgrab/kino (http://www.schirmacher.de/) If that recorder only has analog output you need a capture card. Something like zoran based card like the DC10/BUZ/LML33 oder Matrox Marvel based cards. If you need good quality I would not recommend a bttv based card. It will also work if you have a Analog to Fire Wire converter (Canopus Box for example) and capture than with dvgrab. In both cases you can than process that recorded videso with the mjpegtools. For more information take a look at the mjpeg-howto at sf (mjpeg.sf.net). There is a nice part how to seperate single images from a recroded video. If these things are not possible with mjpeg tools, what tools can we use to achieve our purpose? Here are the specifications : we are running Mandrake 9.0 and using Matrox G450eTV card. I have already installed the appropriate drivers for the card as described in numbers 1 and 2 in http://linux.zsolt.net/marvel.html However, I am currently having difficulties installing xawtv (do we still need xawtv?). Hallo I try to make VCD/SVCD from photos and camera's movies, but when it comes to mpeg2enc it always fails with something like memory protect error. Why? Is my CPU to slow? Do I need special flags to every concrete situation? Or maybe mpeg2enc is broken? The speed of the CPU should be no problem. It can only be slow. My stuff: - Celeron 600; 128 MB RAM; HDD: 40GB,7200rpm,w/2048KiB Cache,UDMA(66) - Linux 2.4.20/Debian 3.0 Woody - mjpegtoos 1.6.1 (without jpeg-mmx, libmovtar and quictime4linux) Did you compile the 1.6.1 yourselve or did you install a rpm package ? Simple example I tried: jpeg -- SVCD -- $ identify *jpg zd10.jpg JPEG 480x576 DirectClass 8-bit 57444b 0.0u 0:01 (...) $ jpeg2yuv -f 25 -b 1 -I p -L 1 -j zd%d.jpg | mpeg2enc -f 4 -o video.m2v What does happen if you replace mpeg2enc with yuvplay ? INFO: [jpeg2yuv] Processing non-interlaced/interleaved zd17.jpg, size 60548l. (...) INFO: [jpeg2yuv] Processing non-interlaced/interleaved zd21.jpg, size 35885l. And it always fails in the same point for every yuv--mpg conversion with mpeg2enc. That might be also a problem with NASM or GCC, which version do you use ? And another little problem... building jpeg-mmx fails with: - [EMAIL PROTECTED] jpeg-mmx-0.1.4]$ make nasm -f elf -o fdct_mmx.o fdct_mmx.s fdct_mmx.s:394: error: operation size not specified make: *** [fdct_mmx.o] Error 1 Which version of the nasm do you have installed ? It might help if you upgrade to a newer version (nasm.sf.net) ps. I do not subscribe mjpeg-users mailing list... should I subscribe to get an answer? How to subscribe? It might happen that If you don't metion it that one ot the mjpeg-users only answeres to the mailinglist, and not to you too. So you could miss a answer. auf hoffentlich bald, Berni the Chaos of Woodquarter Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] www: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~gz/bernhard --- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now. [Mjpeg-users] max bitrate
Quoting from the HOWTO, the Creating DVD's section: The maximum bitrate is set to 7500kBps (it talks about mpeg2enc) Is that true? I ran mpeg2enc with -b 9800 and it didn't complain. Or is the max bitrate set automatically when -b goes beyond it? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/ --- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
