[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lua - Popup while loading Data

2009-10-04 Thread Dpunkt

Hi there,

i hope you can help me with my problem:
I've written (well, mostly changed the test-applet) a applet to recive
data from our server and display it into an list.

Now i want to add an Popup saying Loading with this rotating
circle...

I'm able to show the popup OR load the data, but i want to
Show the Popup
Load Data
Hide the Popup
Show the Data

Can someone help me? Im not good in lua and i don't had found a REAL
documentation of the JIVE-api (?).

Code:

  function newsmenue(self, menuItem)

  local P = Popup(waiting_popup,Bitte Warten)

  self:show(P)

local window = Window(window, menuItem.text)
local menu = SimpleMenu(menu)
window:addWidget(menu)
  a = http.request(InitPleaseURL)
  lanip = http.request(exturl/ip.txt)
a = http.request(sdf .. lanip .. /test/Heise.dll/Anz)

local items = {}
for i=1,a do
a = http.request(sdf .. lanip .. /test/Heise.dll/Nr?ID= .. i)
items[#items + 1] = { text = a,
  callback = function(event, menuItem)
self:textWindow(menuItem,sdf .. lanip
.. /test/Heise.dll/Art?ID= .. i)
end }
end

P:hide()
menu:setItems(items)

self:tieAndShowWindow(window)
return window
  end

sdf means hyperttexttransferprotocol, because the board dont allow th
post of links for newbies (haha)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Multilibrary - need help with settings

2009-10-04 Thread Foggy

Hi all,

I have set up an SB for the Kids. All appears OK with the exception of
the fact that it is picking up genre 'Kids' but not anything with
Comment 'Kids'.
I don't want to change Genre to Kids as I still want 'Soundtrack' or
'Pop' etc, so I want to use Comment to equal 'Kids' as I don't use this
normally.

However I have changed the tags on a number of albums to include this
comment and set Multilibrary below:

Include CommentKids

Am I doing mething wrong here? Should I use quotes or wildcards?

I'm so close to it all working that once I get around this the kids
will leave me alone!!

Thanks,
Foggy

Hi

Okay, I found a solution!

From the Controller menu, go to Settings Home Menu Extras. Enable

SuperDateTime is now accessible.

The one problem is that the font size with the new screen layout means
the information overlaps.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Somewhat peeved with the new behaviour of MediaFly

2009-10-04 Thread Kaizen28

Hi

I am a HUGE fan of MediaFly and it has been a boon to my life since I
stumbled upon it about a year ago. Okay, the performance of the web page
has been a bit ropey over the past month or two but on the whole it's
superb.

Now, the new implementation of MediFly on 7.4 is driving me nuts
because:
- Access to the extended commands (such as Remove Episode) can only be
accessed when the PodCast is playing. This is a limitation as often only
the most current Podcast is available to be played.
- 50% of the time, MediaFly doesn't play the PodCast I choose but seems
to randomly pick one from the list of available feeds. Odd.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2009-10-04 Thread amcluesent

My experience is that Inguz is pretty much crocked by 7.4.1 - r28761.

I copied the Inguz plugin and binaries from c:\program
files\squeezecenter to c:\program files\squeezebox and restarted
Squeezebox Server. I found that the prefs had been migrated by the 7.4
installers.

The EQ plugin appears in the Plugin listing, and the custom filetypes
have been recognised for each player. The InguzDSP.exe is running when a
track is playing.

However, the Plugins-EQ-Settings screen won't load properly and
there's loads of errors in the server log.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Path to setup restore trackstat information

I am one of the lucky ones who have tried to upgrade my ReadyNas Duo

fallback to version 7.3.4

Now I want to restore my trackstat information, but no matter what I

give the right path

My backup files is on my ReadyNas:
/backup/trackstat_scheduled_backup_20091002

Why can I not put in that path???

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How to remove Applets on the SBC

2009-10-04 Thread SpeedyM

Unless I'm mistaken, this issue is still un-resolved.
I too would like a method to clean out some of those applets that
just don't interest me. These are the applets in the My Apps section
of the Sqz Box Controller. Curious thing that the developers work so
hard for seamless integration of apps but neglect a method for end users
to un-install to suite their own tastes.

Don't get me wrong, I think the SBC and technology behind it is
AWESOME; it's my favorite toy and even the wife has become a fan !

Thoughts ??

I suspect this has more to do with the folks who maintain the 3rd party

they've answered questions from us 3rd party developers as we've tried
to update our code to work with the new release. Logitech isn't
purposely breaking anything; they're making changes that are needed or
seen to be valuable, and sometimes those changes break 3rd party code.
 -Peter

I know you're correct about this; however, if Logitech wants to
establish a broader customer base, I think they're going to need to take
more responsibility for ensuring that plugins work before they release
an update. Many people just expect a product they buy to work, and they
don't make any distinctions regarding 3rd-party developers. It all comes
from Logitech's website, after all.

As a comparison, imagine what would happen if half the apps on the
iPhone or Touch stopped working when Apple released a software update,
and Apple's only response was, Third-party developers! And you're
screwed until they decide to fix it! As it is, I've upgraded my Touch
multiple times, and I don't think a third-party app has ever stopped
working. Maybe Logitech could learn something from this model.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2009-10-04 Thread grein002

In earlier versions of SqueezeCenter (including 7.3.2), the following
default.map edit allowed me to call up SuperDateTime while listening to
music (it is listed on
http://www.gregbrown.net/squeeze/superdatetime.htm):

1. Open up \SlimServer\Server\IR\Default.map in your favorite raw
text editor.
2. Scroll down to # textsize modes
3. Edit the text in that section to mirror:(Make sure to include
the leading # where shown below.)
size = dead
size.single = textsize_toggle
size.hold = modefunction_PLUGIN.SuperDateTime::Plugin-showme
#size = textsize_toggle
textsize_small = textsize_small
textsize_medium = textsize_medium
textsize_large = textsize_large
4. Restart SqueezeCenter

This no longer works in 7.4 -- holding the size button has no effect.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Unfortunately that's nothing iPeng can influence. It would have to
retrieve all contributor information for all the tracks and filter
itself and that would be waaay to slow.
The issue is that the CLI queries return data for all contributors, not
just the main artist.
There's a lengthy thread about this, I believe in the Duet forum (which
has the same issue). I also believe there's a bug open for this, maybe

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Execute Script

2009-10-04 Thread epoch1970

I think you'll soon be happy with the srvPowerControl Plugin when the
author has released a version for 7.4.
This plugin works perfectly well under OS X (10.5 at least).
It can do a lot more than sleeping the server. It is quite flexible, so
you can run your own scripts when a power management action is to be
taken. Any action can be tied to the sleep+hold button IR event.

The current version does not install on 7.4. That should come within a
few weeks time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Complete rescan failed to scan MusicIP

2009-10-04 Thread Phil Meyer
Can you clarify if the slower scan from the database is better in some
reason than the faster mix scan? I'm assuming it must have some benefit,
otherwise not just use the faster scan all the time?

No the full MusicIP scan mode is worse - in my opinion it should be dropped,
there's no need for it.

The full mode effectively takes all song information from the MusicIP library,
and copies it into the Squeezebox Server DB. MusicIP doesn't scan in song info
as good as the Squeezebox Server scanner. There are several reasons why I
think this worse:

1. MusicIP doesn't support as many file types.
2. MusicIP doesn't support multiple tags. eg. Multiple genres, multiple
artists.
3. MusicIP does some weird stuff with missing tags. eg. a song with no album
tag in Squeezebox Server appears under No Album, whereas MusicIP reports the
song as belonging to album Miscellaneous.
4. Not sure whether you would get artwork throught MusicIP import.

If you use the Squeezebox ServerScanner and full MusicIP import, then it may
effectively be reading and storing tracks twice (takes twice as long).

You are better off scanning music with the Squeezebox Server, and then only
reading mixable status for the songs that have been scanned. Once the mixable
status has been retrieved from MusicIP, the Squeezebox Server doesn't need to
try again in the future (if you do a scan for new/changed files, it only tries
to get mixable status for the songs that are not yet known to be mixable).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Execute Script

2009-10-04 Thread danco

Thanks for that information. On the plugins page (of Community) this
plugin is described as working on Windows and Linux, but if one looks at
the page for this specific plugin one learns that it also works on Mac
OS X, which I had not known.

There might be issues relating to use of 'sudo', as I do not run my Mac
as an admin user, but there should be ways round that.

That would get rid of the need for me to use the Execute on Demand
option of the Execute Script plugin, which is what I currently have
trouble with. I still need the other functions of the script, because of
oddities in the way my Mac behaves, so I do hope it will continue to
work in future versions of Squeezebox Server.

Have a look at the 1st page of the 'giant thread for srvPowerControl'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521) for the latest
info.

Fact is, sudo works in a totally standard way under X 10.5. (and 10.6 I
guess.)
I had posted in the thread a launchd daemon that runs privileged
commands on behalf of a local Squeezebox Server. nc or telnet to replace
sudo. That was an overkill, but actually I didn't try the sudoers route
beforehand... So the code is there in the thread, just in case.

Since 99% macs are desktop machines, Gharris999 has included a little
trick that blocks server shutdown commands as long as you're logged in
(uses logon/logout hooks). So the server never shuts down on you when
you have a session and possibly documents open. Logout to the login
window and srvPowerControl will sleep the mac if the players are
inactive.
The mac is the 1st platform to have this. X11/Gnome desktops should
follow suit I guess.

That's a very nice feature set, IMHO. And since the mac is so reliable
at doing sleep/wake, using the plugin makes a lot of sense on this
platform.

May I ask what other tasks you run via your scripts ?

(I will check 10.6 later, probably around 10.6.2. But I think
Gharris999 has a mac as well.)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't read album reviews or bios since upgrading to 7.4

2009-10-04 Thread flamingsock

Hi,

I haven't had too many issues with the new upgrade, but I really like
the plug-in to read bio and reviews from allmusic and the text is blank
- it looks like it makes the call to all music and then brings up a
blank screen.

The bios from slacker and reviews via Amazon show up - but not this
feature which I really like.

Anyone else having this issue or thoughts on how this can get fixed?

Thanks much,
-ldk

Hi, I have been using iPeng to listen to slimserver streaming to my

these services without apps? If I downgrade to 7.3.3 will iPeng be able
to access them like before? thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Execute Script

2009-10-04 Thread danco

Yes, I downloaded it, looked at the text information, and I think I can
see what to do. I will experiment when the 7.4 version comes out.

If Energy Saver works properly, then the machine will sleep after a set
period if there is no keyboard, mouse, or hard drive activity. That
means that if I am doing a BBC Listen Again, the machine is likely to
sleep while I am listening.

Solution is to run one of the little programs that prevent sleep by for
instance) simulating mouse movement. And a fairly natural thing to do is
to run such a program via Execute Script when I start playing something
and quit it when I stop playing. That's far neater than setting Energy
Saver to never and then setting it back.

Also, many people have found that Energy Saver just does not sleep when
it is supposed to. There seem to be loads of different reasons, and
no-one has got to the bottom of this. So,to ensure my machine sleeps, I
also use a program that forces sleep after the set Energy Saver time.
But the program I use (and others that I have seen) seem to sleep if
there is no keyboard or mouse action, even if there is hard drive
activity. So if I am listening from my music folder, I still need to
turn on a program that prevents sleep.

Does this mean you did not need a SqueezeNetwork account to use live365
etc.?
If that's the case downgrading should do the trick, iPeng works with
7.3.3 as before.
If it's just about getting an SN account, I believe you can open one
with iPeng by connecting to the MySqueezebox source in iPeng.

With 7.3 I was able to use those services without squeezenetwork. Now
it seems I can only use a squeezebox to access apps. I am logged into

Hi Pippin,

Have you tried the On Flickr applet with iPeng yet? I tried it

Also, would it be possible to show player controls when viewing lyrics,
bios, reviews, comments, etc.?

Not yet. No image viewer, at least not for the flavor used by the
apps:
https://trac.penguinlovesmusic.de/trac/ipengnat/ticket/117

Hard to do. Where was that discussion... This thread or one of the
others...

_theoretically_ I could do it when the menu originates from the
NowPlaying menu (e.g. when you use the context menu). The problem is:
browse menus would then also show up in the limited window and handling
for them would not be nice. tried it early in the 1.2 dev and it wasn't
very convincing.
You could file a ticket and I'd send around a beta that has it, I
believe the code is still in there...

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Finally got all my tracks rated with TrackStat

2009-10-04 Thread smc2911

Well, after three and a half years chipping away, I've now got all
13,438 of my tracks rated. And, with Erland's plugins working like a
charm in 7.4, I'm enjoying listening to a mix of my 4 and 5 star tracks.
Thanks for all your hard work Erland!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Beta: Weather-Screensafer for Controller/Radio/Touch

bluegaspode;465050 Wrote:
Any idea how to improve this? In the first version, I always showed the
'rain'-icon when there was a chance of rain. But I didn't like it - if
you look at wunderground, sometimes its just a possibility of 20% of
rain (this data unfortunately isn't available in the data feed) so a
rain-icon just didn't fit all the time - I found it more interesting if
it will be a little sunny day or not.
On the other hand I didn't want to conceal that there was a propability
 of rain.
 snip
I'll create an option to switch, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the prompt responses to those suggestions. It's great having
the time-of-day and the C/F options.

I'm surprised to hear you say that the chance of precipitation is not
available in the data feed, because the WeatherDateTime (WDT) plugin for
the players with VFD screens has that info, and it also gets its feed
from wunderground.com. As for other animations, what does a sun with
clouds flashing on/off mean? For example, for tomorrow I'm seeing
Clear with just a sun icon on the wunderground.com site, but for the
same location your applet is showing a sun with clouds flashing on and
off. Is that chance of clouds? The following day is predicted partly
cloudy, and the icons on the web site and your applet are a static sun
with clouds, which is what I would expect.

There are two other things I'd like you to consider. To my eye, the
main weather icon takes up too much space relative to the text. In my
opinion the icon could be shrunk and either make the text bigger or add
a provision for a third line of data. Secondly, what about using the
whole screen for current conditions, and making subsequent days
available via a button or wheel? I'm thinking here of something like the
WDT approach, although I expect it would be harder to implement with the
LCD devices because the UIs are different across players (SBC wheel
buttons vs. SB Radio knob(s) vs. SB Touch's IR remote and touchscreen).
But maybe there's some way to do it.

I'm sure that some of my comments come from being a happy user of WDT
(and sometimes SuperDateTime) for a few years, so I'd like to see some
of the same functionality on the players with LCD screens. But I also
understand that you don't necessarily just want to port WDT to the newer
players, you want to have your own creation, and I certainly can't argue
with that. Anyway, thanks again for an excellent applet.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-10-04 Thread jdc

Well, I for one I was going to add a Radio to my mix and maybe a touch
also, but will not be adding it or upgrading to 7.4 until it supports
XM.

I know when the latest xm plugin was actively developed, it was tested
it against the 7.4 branch at the time, so I suspect it must have been a
fairly recent change in that branch that broke this plugin.

I guess we can only hope someone picks this back up... thanks wharfrat
for looking. However, definitely I agree with Corbey - ideally this
either this core stuff was owned by logitech and they updated it or even
more ideally, if they really wanted a real plugin ecosystem, they'd
focus more on having some stable apis that wouldn't break all the old
plugins on every point release.

Now wouldn't it be great if there were a way to share trackstats ie take
another user's trackstats and apply it to your library, leaving existing
trackstats intact.

I know it'd reflect someone else's tastes but you'd presumably start
with someone who's tastes you understood and liked.

Do you want to get it from a specific person or would it work to get it
from aggregated information such as Amazon.com ?

I've had some thought regarding a central TrackStat storage which would
make it possible to do a lot of things by analyzing different users
listening behavior and ratings. However, I've always got stuck due to
two things:
- I'm not sure my server would be able to handle the load and storage
space needed
- LastFM offers something pretty similar to this already today

Now that's a very interesting idea. It might be possible with Erland's
Multiple Library plugin (although I haven't played around with it much).
The fiddliest thing would be mapping the urls/filenames across unless
everything is tagged with MusicBrainz ids.
