Linphone

2016-05-05 Thread Pavel Vlček
Hi,
Ubuntu 16.04 has old Linphone 3.6.1 version, but in this version is a
bug with appli button in account guide. Are you using this software? I
want to compile the 1.9.1 from source, but Ubuntu has older intl-tool,
so I get error in ./configure script. Or can you recommend me other
accessible voip / sip software? I know Twinkle, but it has
accessibility / sound problems on my machine.
Thanks,
Pavel

how to browse apps

2016-05-05 Thread Pavel Vlček
Hi,
is here a way to browse all installed apps? When I want to do this
with dash, I can browse three or four apps and orca says filter by and
this is the end.
Vinux uses some small utility, which shows apps sorted by category.
Can be this utility used in Ubuntu? I returned back to 16.04 classic,
because Ubuntu has the best hardware compatibility.
Thanks,
Pavel

I am switching to Ubuntu Gnome 16.04, from classic 16.04.

I want to use gnome 3 ppa, which updates the Gnome to 3.20, I don't
know, if Orca 3.20.1 is included in gnome 3 ppa, but if yes, Do i need
the accessibility ppa also included?

Thanks,

[Bug 1571691] Re: linux: MokSBState is ignored

2016-04-28 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
1. asks for a password
2. Setting SB State Failed
3. nothing says I should reboot
4. upon reboot configuration screen pops up and asks random characters from the
password entered before
5. allows me to disable verification

in case the above is the correct user story, I have the following
remark:

this seems to disable all verification after shim. Before the change the kernel
was still verified and only the the modules were not.
Therefore I would say things were more secure before.

Is it possible to just disable signed module enforcement again?

At which point should I have been asked to select the secure boot

[Bug 1562377] [NEW] Some Czech letters cannot be writtent with the Czech keyboard layout anymore

2016-03-26 Thread Pavel Hok
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Xubuntu 15.10 on a lenovo laptop, some Czech letters
cannot be written anymore. Letters which still work are those mapped to
specific keyboards (replacing numerical keys at the top of the
keyboards. Less frequent letters, such as ď, ň and ť (had to copy them
from Wikipedia) are usually written by preceding them with the ´ or ˇ
sign (located just left of the backspace). Normally, the first keypress
won't produce any output on the screen but will modify the following
letter, but since the upgrade, pressing the key '=' will type '´'
immediately (similarly SHIFT+'=') will type 'ˇ'. The following letter is
then not modified. Although these letters are not very frequent in
Czech, writing a document or even an e-mail gets really annoying, since
these letters have to be copied from somewhere else. Thanks for any
help.

Some icons aren't spoken by Orca

2016-03-14 Thread Pavel Vlček

Hi,
I installed the latest daily build of Ubuntu to my laptop. I am testing
it again and I found one small issue. Some icons in alt plus f10 panel
aren't spoken by Orca. For example. Go to messages menu. You can see
some icons and if Pidgin is installed, you can see four icons without
accessibility description.
I know that first is Thunderbird, second are contacts, thirt is new
email and the last is Pidgin, but for Ubuntu beginners, this maybe a
problem. The not spoken icons are in sound, messages etc. Is this
reported, or can it be fixed?

Thanks and sorry, English isn't my primary language.
Pavel

2016-03-01 Thread Pavel Zlámal
I can confirm that this happens to me with libreoffice-gtk and
libreoffice-gtk3 too.

In a fact I can't write it in any other program either. But when I
uninstall above packages, I can write it correctly at least in
LibreOffice.

Wierd thing is, that it works correctly on my Dell Vostro 3500 in every
program, with exactly same xubuntu version (16.04), but doesn't work on
my Lenovo ThinkPad T440p. Installed from same media, both up to date,
same language and keyboard layout settings.

[Bug 1539513] Re: networkmanager segfaults with 3.2.21-1ubuntu1

2016-01-30 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
I hope you can resolve/ revert this ASAP as it brings network down and
finding information on how to fix it becomes very complicated.

Anyway another solution to revert to the working packages is:

if you have an Ubuntu USB stick somewhere
1. Boot "try out Ubuntu"
2. mkdir installation
3. sudo mount /dev/sdXX installation # where sdXX is your ubuntu root partition
4. sudo chroot installation
5. apt-get install libnl-3-200=3.2.21-1 libnl-genl-3-200=3.2.21-1
libnl-route-3-200=3.2.21-1

[Bug 1530445] Re: cannot install ubuntu alongside windows 10 on asus x552mj

2016-01-06 Thread Pavel Petrovic
You are probably right about the swap.

Thanks for your analysis. If I remember correctly, yes, I was either plugging
in or uplugging the network cable during the install process from DVD (I
believe without requesting updates from Internet during install). Something
that should not have caused it to crash.
I have managed to do it finally after several trials, the whole process was a
terrible headache, even though I have installed Linux 20 times before. For
instance - manual partitioning, or setting grub on /dev/sda5 usually did not
work for some reason. I wish it would be more friendly assisting the user with
various options, but verifying after him, if the settings are reasonable. In
this messy EFI-UEFI world, nobody knows anymore how it should be setup. Why
cannot we just use the standard windows loader and add another option of Linux
there. Why do we need grub to sit on top of it, I wonder when will Windows
clean it up next time.

[Bug 1072457] Re: telepathy plugin is not functional

2016-01-04 Thread Pavel Borecki
Don't know, in Ubuntu 12.04 I had some strange issues with vinagre vnc
client in this scenario, so decided to try go with that time default vnc
client in Ubuntu - Remmina. Unfortunately, this doesn't worked at all,
as stated in bug report. Nowadays I use Teamviewer instead, because I
need(ed) this functionality to provide remote user support. But I can
tray use it again, if you fix it. Thanks for you attention to this bug
:-)

[Bug 1530445] [NEW] cannot install ubuntu alongside windows 10 on asus x552mj

2016-01-01 Thread Pavel Petrovic
Public bug reported:

I received this in both cases - when manually creating a partition and
trying to install grub to /dev/sda4, and when just choosing an option
"install ubuntu alongside existing OS" - which stupidly does not offer
an option without swap, but why would one want to create swap on ssd,
he? I wasted a full day with trying to install latest Ubuntu on a normal
laptop with a fresh install of Win10. This is really BAD.

[Bug 1523491] [NEW] kernel stuck in dm_destroy

2015-12-07 Thread Pavel Boldin
Public bug reported:

The problem is incorrect backporting of [1] to the Ubuntu Trusty kernel
[2].

While original patch moves `dm_get_live_table` to the appropriate
section mutex lock the backported code just adds another call to it
under the mutex leaving the original call under spinlock in place.

[Bug 1521931] [NEW] apparmor-profile-load returns 1 if apparmor not installed

2015-12-02 Thread Pavel Volkovitskiy
Public bug reported:

Environment:

ubuntu 15.04 with upstart and without apparmor

I tried to upgrade my ubuntu image to 15.10 and upgrading breaks on
rsyslog:

start: Job failed to start

i checked dmesg and found this:

[ 525.832963] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078)
[ 525.833007] init: rsyslog state changed from pre-starting to pre-start
[ 525.834464] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078) terminated with status 1
[ 525.834639] init: rsyslog goal changed from start to stop

so i looked in pre-start:
pre-start script
/lib/init/apparmor-profile-load usr.sbin.rsyslogd
end script

and then in /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load:
#!/bin/sh

[ -x /lib/apparmor/profile-load ] && exec /lib/apparmor/profile-load
"$@"

in my case where is no "/lib/apparmor/profile-load" file, so this
scripts return 1, which breaks pre-start and breaks rsyslog starting

I guess that if /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load script checks if file
exists, it should return 0 in case then file doesn't exist

[Bug 1510344] Re: Keyboard Backlight Turns on at boot

2015-10-28 Thread Pavel Gluschak
Have the same problem with Dell Latitude E7450. It's possible to turn it
off using Fn+F10, but next boot it results in kb backlight being on. I
also noticed that it comes up each time I unlock my laptop after locking
screen using Ctrl+Alt+L.

[Bug 1446199] Re: Ubuntu Aquaris E4.5 does not connect to Motorola S9-HD headset

2015-10-21 Thread Pavel Župa
In the meantime the headset had died so I had to buy a new one. Sadly
Motorola does not manufacture these anymore so I bought another brand
and that one is connecting as expected. So I cannot provide a feedback
anymore and considering how old the headset is and how (not) popular it
was, most probably no one can... I'd say close the bug.

[Bug 1498236] [NEW] KVM: unknown exit, hardware reason 31

2015-09-21 Thread Pavel Shirshov
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Few months ago I found a bug in linux kernel (kvm subsystem). This bug causes a
KVM guest crush with error code 31.
I reported that bug to k...@vger.kernel.org and got following replay:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/kvm/msg119265.html

Is there a chance to apply the patch fixing KVM bug to linux-lts-utopic,
linux-lts-vivid?
Now that patch is already in 4.3 kernel and proposed for 3.14, 4.1 and 4.2
kernel trees.

[Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode

2015-09-09 Thread Pavel Boldin
Here is the updated patch for the bug.

All it does is merely setting `tcg_commit' function as
`log_global_start' callback. `tcg_commit' is then flushes all the
appropriate TLBs on `memory_log_global_start' call.

[Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode

2015-09-08 Thread Pavel Boldin
@serge-hallyn,

This patch is exactly what fixes the problem for me (was able to do
around 150 successful migrations with it).

However, this should be rewritten to only contain exactly calls to
tlb_flush when in TCG mode so there is no extra code and no unrelated
changes.

The reason patches are different is quite reworked migration and dirtying
mechanisms in new QEMU.

In exactly, new QEMU KVM has no `log_global_start' handler and the
regions are to be marked as DIRTY_MEMORY_MIGRATE by the `log_start'
handlers which are called only starting with the referenced patch in
upstream. This call is done deeply in memory_region_transaction_commit
-> address_space_update_topology -> *_pass.

Regarding the DIRTY_MEMORY_CODE, in the 2.0.0 it is used only inside the
TCG-related code. Every time a TranslationBlock code is generated for a
given VM code the pages of VM code are removed from TLB cache and marked
as 'clean'. So, on next write to the VM code pages the TLB will be
missed and the TranslationBlock will be updated accordingly.

[Bug 1493049] [NEW] memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode

2015-09-07 Thread Pavel Boldin
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
* Live-migration of QEMU instances in pure-emulation (TCG) mode

[Test Case]
HOW TO REPRODUCE
1. Run a QEMU instance with a simply VM inside it. The VM should have as few
running daemons as it is posible.
2. Live migrate machine back and forth a few times. Use monitor command
'migrate "exec:cat>filename"' to migrate out a VM and QEMU command line option
'-incoming "exec:cat filename"' to load a migrated state.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
- The VM is responding to the commands after each migration.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR
- The VM Kernel crashes in most-used part of the memory after 10 to 50
migrations.

[Additional Information]
qemu:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18
  Version table:
 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-proposed/universe amd64

The migrated memory is corrupted because the pages are not appropriately
dirtied during the migration state. This is due to the only pages that
go through `slow_path` access in TCG are marked as dirty.

Iff the pages are in the TLB cache then the access is done the fast way
and pages are not marked dirty.

To fix that the TLB cache must be flushed before the VM enters live
migration state.

See the bug descriptions for details:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mos/7.0.x/+bug/1371130

QEMU versions from 2.0.0 and up to 2.4.0 (excluding it) seems to be
vulnerable.

[Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode

2015-09-07 Thread Pavel Boldin
There is no memory_region_get_dirty_log_mask in the 2.0.0, this was only
introduced later. Strictly speaking, 2.0.0 is quite different from 2.4.0
in this matter but I checked the code logic here and it should be good.

Yes, I was not sure what versions it affects so I only referenced
Trusty. If this affects anything else please make appropriate edits.

[Bug 1476844] [NEW] loading firmware into hplj1000 twice

2015-07-21 Thread Pavel Shvagirev
Public bug reported:

/lib/udev/hplj1000 doesn't handle another $DEVNAME case when udev calls
it twice.

Udev calls the script twice for some reason on the system described
below.

At first, udev calls hplj1000 with /dev/bus/usb/004/059 as a $DEVNAME which
is not desired/not supported.
Then it calls the script once again with /dev/usb/lp0 as a $DEVNAME which is
desired and must be used to load a firmware to.

The problem is that the script handles only /dev/usb/usb* case but not the
/dev/bus/usb/*.
This leads to firmware being loaded twice which causes HP LaserJet 1000 to hang
and stop processing tasks.

Attached patch adds another case to the /lib/udev/hplj1000 script that
silently exits if the script is called with undesired value.

I have the same bug on Xubuntu 15.04, however I have registered the bug

A workaround for my desktop is the next command:

--reload

It seems the bug is not never fixed correctly .
