Linphone
Hi, Ubuntu 16.04 has old Linphone 3.6.1 version, but in this version is a bug with appli button in account guide. Are you using this software? I want to compile the 1.9.1 from source, but Ubuntu has older intl-tool, so I get error in ./configure script. Or can you recommend me other accessible voip / sip software? [Bug 1562377] [NEW] Some Czech letters cannot be writtent with the Czech keyboard layout anymore
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Xubuntu 15.10 on a lenovo laptop, some Czech letters cannot be written anymore. Letters which still work are those mapped to specific keyboards (replacing numerical keys at the top of the keyboards. Less frequent letters, such as ď, ň and ť (had to copy them from Wikipedia) are usually written by preceding them with the ´ or ˇ sign (located just left of the backspace). Normally, the first keypress won't produce any output on the screen but will modify the following letter, but since the upgrade, pressing the key '=' will type '´' immediately (similarly SHIFT+'=') will type 'ˇ'. The following letter is then not modified. Although these letters are not very frequent in Czech, writing a document or even an e-mail gets really annoying, since these letters have to be copied from somewhere else. Thanks for any help. Some icons aren't spoken by Orca
Hi, I installed the latest daily build of Ubuntu to my laptop. I am testing it again and I found one small issue. Some icons in alt plus f10 panel aren't spoken by Orca. For example. Go to messages menu. You can see some icons and if Pidgin is installed, you can see four icons without accessibility description. I know that first is Thunderbird, second are contacts, thirt is new email and the last is Pidgin, but for Ubuntu beginners, this maybe a problem. [Bug 1530445] Re: cannot install ubuntu alongside windows 10 on asus x552mj
You are probably right about the swap. Thanks for your analysis. If I remember correctly, yes, I was either plugging in or uplugging the network cable during the install process from DVD (I believe without requesting updates from Internet during install). Something that should not have caused it to crash. I have managed to do it finally after several trials, the whole process was a terrible headache, even though I have installed Linux 20 times before. For instance - manual partitioning, or setting grub on /dev/sda5 usually did not work for some reason. I wish it would be more friendly assisting the user with various options, but verifying after him, if the settings are reasonable. In this messy EFI-UEFI world, nobody knows anymore how it should be setup. Why cannot we just use the standard windows loader and add another option of Linux there. Why do we need grub to sit on top of it, I wonder when will Windows clean it up next time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530445 Title: cannot install ubuntu alongside windows 10 on asus x552mj To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1530445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1523491] [NEW] kernel stuck in dm_destroy

[Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode
@serge-hallyn, This patch is exactly what fixes the problem for me (was able to do around 150 successful migrations with it). However, this should be rewritten to only contain exactly calls to tlb_flush when in TCG mode so there is no extra code and no unrelated changes. The reason patches are different is quite reworked migration and dirtying mechanisms in new QEMU. In exactly, new QEMU KVM has no `log_global_start' handler and the regions are to be marked as DIRTY_MEMORY_MIGRATE by the `log_start' handlers which are called only starting with the referenced patch in upstream. This call is done deeply in memory_region_transaction_commit -> address_space_update_topology -> *_pass. Regarding the DIRTY_MEMORY_CODE, in the 2.0.0 it is used only inside the TCG-related code. Every time a TranslationBlock code is generated for a given VM code the pages of VM code are removed from TLB cache and marked as 'clean'. So, on next write to the VM code pages the TLB will be missed and the TranslationBlock will be updated accordingly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1493049 Title: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1493049/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1493049] [NEW] memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode
Public bug reported: [Impact] * Live-migration of QEMU instances in pure-emulation (TCG) mode [Test Case] HOW TO REPRODUCE 1. Run a QEMU instance with a simply VM inside it. The VM should have as few running daemons as it is posible. 2. Live migrate machine back and forth a few times. Use monitor command 'migrate "exec:cat>filename"' to migrate out a VM and QEMU command line option '-incoming "exec:cat filename"' to load a migrated state. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR - The VM is responding to the commands after each migration. ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR - The VM Kernel crashes in most-used part of the memory after 10 to 50 migrations. [Additional Information] qemu: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18 Version table: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-proposed/universe amd64 Packages 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.17 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security/universe amd64 Packages 2.0.0~rc1+dfsg-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages The migrated memory is corrupted because the pages are not appropriately dirtied during the migration state. This is due to the only pages that go through `slow_path` access in TCG are marked as dirty. Iff the pages are in the TLB cache then the access is done the fast way and pages are not marked dirty.
To fix that the TLB cache must be flushed before the VM enters live migration state. [Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode
There is no memory_region_get_dirty_log_mask in the 2.0.0, this was only introduced later. Strictly speaking, 2.0.0 is quite different from 2.4.0 in this matter but I checked the code logic here and it should be good. [Bug 1476844] [NEW] loading firmware into hplj1000 twice
Public bug reported: /lib/udev/hplj1000 doesn't handle another $DEVNAME case when udev calls it twice. Udev calls the script twice for some reason on the system described below. At first, udev calls hplj1000 with /dev/bus/usb/004/059 as a $DEVNAME which is not desired/not supported. Then it calls the script once again with /dev/usb/lp0 as a $DEVNAME which is desired and must be used to load a firmware to. The problem is that the script handles only /dev/usb/usb* case but not the /dev/bus/usb/*. This leads to firmware being loaded twice which causes HP LaserJet 1000 to hang and stop processing tasks. Attached patch adds another case to the /lib/udev/hplj1000 script that silently exits if the script is called with undesired value. # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release:14.04 # apt-cache policy printer-driver-foo2zjs-common printer-driver-foo2zjs-common: Installed: 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status # apt-cache policy udev udev: Installed: 204-5ubuntu20.12 Candidate: 204-5ubuntu20.12 Version table: *** 204-5ubuntu20.12 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 204-5ubuntu20 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages # ** Affects: foo2zjs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: foo2zjs hplj1000 udev ** Patch added: hplj1000.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476844/+attachment/4432206/+files/hplj1000.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476844 Title: loading firmware into hplj1000 twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/foo2zjs/+bug/1476844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1297849] Re: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files

[Bug 1297849] Re: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files
If I'm right the fix I've already provided in PPA for the Utopic and Trusty should work for Vivid as well. The problem is I have not really compiled it for Vivid yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297849 Title: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1297849/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1297849] Re: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files
