[Bug 861443] Re: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10
MrCopilot; We understand your frustration. Ignoring hosts for proxy is something that tends to be useful, but perhaps it was deemed not as frequently used as the other functions by upstream developers, which is why it's no longer exposed in the UI (which is something Ubuntu gets from upstream, so it applies to all distributions using Gnome3). As you undoubtedly have noticed, the option is still available via command-line, as such: gsettings set org.gnome.system.proxy ignore-hosts ['localhost', '127.0.0.0/8', 'some.other.host'] However, the issue you're describing is something different than not being able to change proxy settings at all. As such, I'd like to invite you to file a new, separate bug report that covers *precisely and only* exposing ignore-hosts in UI. We can then send this report to the upstream developers at GNOME (alternatively, you can just file the bug there directly (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)). This way it will run the best chance of being taken care of by developers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861443 Title: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/861443/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 788274] rsync, ssh: ath5k +AR2413 (more unknowns in the equation)
I came to the conclusion that this issue is related to ath5k driver with AR2413 wireless chip communicating with the Netgear WGR614 router via WPA2 protocol. The wireless chip here does matter, since I have another notebook (ubuntu 10.10, on 2.6.35* kernel, ath5k with a different chip though) that does not have the said problems. Discovered that ssh and rsync also suffer from the throttled traffic when run wirelessly. In fact, rsyncing both from and to the affected machine stalls, as well as sshing to it. That only happens while on the wireless connection. We are talking about the aforementioned Netgear's LAN in all the cases. I downloaded a 1 year old 2.6.35 kernel. It seemed to be better, however, sshing to the machine would also freeze in the middle of the session. This is very weird taking good numbers from the connection speed test ( testmy.net ) into account makes it more weird. Not sure what to do next. My nest suspicion would the combination the wireless card, router and the WAP2 authentication protocol. I will try turning the latter off and or trying other ones. -- Sent with mutt, composed in gnu emacs Please do not send me Microsoft Office/Apple iWork documents. [Bug 828019] Re: Restart not available when suppress_logout_restart_shutdown is set
I completly agree with Adam. This is a major bug for me, and one that made me go back to 11.04. I'm a dual boot user and I need a clean and quick access to "restart". Interestingly when I started with metacity, the window was reset to a sane size and the problem with the "revert" dialog was no longer visible. [Bug 882702] [NEW] ibus-tegaki crashes on Ubuntu Oneiric
Public bug reported: I am using Tegaki with iBus on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric (32 bit, US English) on my Samsung Anynet N130 netbook (Intel Atom, 1GB RAM) running the Xubuntu (XFCE) desktop. I have three input methods installed: "Chinese - Pinyin", "Japanese - Anthy" and "Other - tegaki". Tegaki frequently crashes iBus, requiring the user to restart it. This does not happen when running the same version of ibus-tegaki on Natty, although I am using GNOME (Classic) on a 64 bit architecture there. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set cursor to a text box, activate iBus via Ctrl + Space 2. Switch through input methods using Alt + Shift or the iBus tray icon Expected result: Tegaki's drawing pad should open, allowing me to draw a character. I should then be able to select another input method, with Tegaki's drawing pad closing automatically. What happened instead: When activating Tegaki, iBus crashes. Sometimes Tegaki actually starts and shows the drawing pad, but then either Tegaki's drawing pad remains open or iBus crashes when selecting another input method. Crashes are more frequent when using keyboard shortcuts (Alt + Shift). $lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 $ apt-cache policy ibus-tegaki ibus-tegaki: Installed: 0.3.1-1 Candidate: 0.3.1-1 Version table: *** 0.3.1-1 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: ibus-tegaki (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I am using Tegaki with iBus on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric (32 bit, US English) on my Samsung Anynet N130 netbook (Intel Atom, 1GB RAM) running the Xubuntu (XFCE) desktop. [Bug 881975] Re: Window focus issue on using expo, Alt+Tab and popup window after login
Thanks for checking out that report. To me it seems like there are two separate issues here. Focusing windows when a workspace is switched, and your keyring prompt not receiving focus problem. These issues might be related but I'm not positive. I don't think we should mark this as duplicate, then, but change this report to only encompass the keyring prompt not being focused issue, removing everything about switching workspaces and those windows not being focused. You should certainly mark yourself as an affected user on bug 876333, though. In summary, I propose we change the title of this bug to: "After login, prompts such as the privilege escalation prompt do not receive focus" And the body of the report to: "After login, pop up windows such as the password prompt for privilege escalation do not receive focus, causing the user to have to click the window to begin entering their password." "Exact steps to reproduce:" (please provide these) If you agree, please go ahead and make these changes. ** Package changed: ubuntu => compiz (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881975 Title: Window focus issue on using expo, Alt+Tab and popup window after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/881975/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
