Milton, this suggestion is okay. We shall look forward to the same.
Members have however suggested that we shift the date to 30/7/2011 at
the same venue at the same time. They feel friday is not ideal.

Robert,

I think the idea of us delivering the assistance is welcome, but in
the mean time, can members raise what ever they can. Listen Ladies and
Gentlemen, Imagine you were dead and your great grand daughter was
raped while she was 13, Yet your daughter is 28 but now a grandmother,
what would you do in your helpless grave. It does not matter whether
one is from Nebbi or any where. Why are we quiet. Ndugu Anguzu, how
many West Nilers have responded to this clarion call?

[WestNileNet] Nebbi Teenagers Plight

2011-04-17 Thread alaka caleb
Dear colleagues,

You may all be aware about the fate of a West Nile kid hailing from
Nebbi who was defiled and has given birth at the age of 13. The grand
mother is 28 years. Whereas our lawyers should follow up the
defilement issue, my attention has been brought towards the families
current problems. According to the New Vision of today, the family
stays in a 6,000/= rented place and they can't afford any thing. The
young girl wants to resume school, the family survives by selling
firewood and sim sim. From the above, I have initiated a basket to
mobilize funds for the short term upkeep of the baby, the young mother
and probably part of the girls school fees. For this initiative, I
have contributed Ug.Shs 100,000/= I will hand it over to Mr. Anguzu
Rogers our treasurer and any money we shall have contributed will be
handed over to the Chairperson of Uganda Red cross Mr. Tom Buruku on
Tthursday this week. Any one willing to help should get it touch with
Anguzu. All contributions will be documented and accounted.

[WestNileNet] Conspirancy of silence

2011-04-05 Thread alaka caleb
Dear members,

Some time last year, we tried to build a consensus on payment of
subscription fees of 50,000/= Uganda Shillings for West Nile
Foundation. This idea was vehemently opposed by several members. Some
even pretended that they had never seen the strategic plan, the
memorandum and articles of association of WNF. Other members suggested
that we should go slow on issues of money. As a result to-date we have
no secretariat to co-ordinate our activities. We can't implement or
move any thing. Members what do we do?. Should we all abandon this
idea of having an umbrella organization. We have resisted all good
ideas, from West Nile night, the Investment Club, and even the Science
Cafe which records miserable attendances. We are comfortable and we
actively involve our selves in smaller or sectarian organizations,
when it comes to the bigger picture we sit back and savor the idea of
our leaders failing. We have forgotten that Kigs uses money to host
the West Nile net. He and Gordon Obitre-Gama had to import a server
from USA to host the net. We have taken advantage of their magnanimity
and abused it. What if they one time get fed up. By now we should have
had our own website. I think the idea of a West Nile Foundation and
the West Nile Net or forum should be discarded. Some of us were useful
to our community without these organizations, We can still be useful
without them. Lets agree to dissolve the Forum and the Foundation.
Lets concentrate on our Local Counties, Districts, Old boys/girls
organizations in our old schools were we are more comfortable, tribes
and probably religion. Without payment of subscription fees, we have
no right to belong to and hold an organization and its leadership
accountable. Lets wind up the WNF and if our treasurer has
contributions by some members let him arrange to refund them. We
resisted the idea of a Ministry for West Nile affairs and now other
regions have Ministries. West Nile doesn't deserve us. We lied to
ourselves that we are of the Golden generation. But at this rate we
are worse than our ' Kasamvu' (Sugar cane cutter) relatives. For they
were not as enlightened as we are.

[WestNileNet] Get together Party with our newly elected Political Leaders

2011-03-02 Thread alaka caleb
West Nile Foundation intends to do the following.
1. Organize an interactive get together party for the newly elected
Members of Parliament, L.C V chairpersons, Mayors, opinion leaders,
Business community and C.A.O's from West Nile. The intention is to
ensure that these newly elected leaders interact with our members and
in the process, we can have some discussions about what is next for
West Nile after elections. we may tackle health, Education,
Electricity and Poverty alleviation in West Nile. There is a committee
chaired by Gordon Obitre- Gama Drate which committee includes Afema
Robert (publicity) Acidri Eddy (Treasurer), Buga Viga, Matenga Francis
Dawa, Alemi William, Ezaga Patrick, Azabo Francis and Wendy. A
tentative date of 26th March 2011 has been set. The Venue tentatively
is Barbeque Launch at Centenary Park Kampala. The President of the
Republic of Uganda may be the Chief Guest. This get together is
intended to ensure that we begin a new chapter in the Political
history of West Nile. We need to join hands as West Nilers to push our
development agenda.
2. We intend to organize Ayume Memorial Lecture some time in April.
3. We intend to organize the First Ever West Nile Convention. We shall
appoint the relevant committees for the other two efforts.

[WestNileNet] Member ship/Subscription to WNF

2011-03-02 Thread alaka caleb
Colleagues,

We incorporated WNF as a body corporate with capacity to transact any
business in its own name. We developed the Mid term Strategic Plan. We
are to establish a secretariat to operationalise and achieve the
objectives of the Foundation. We did agree on the annual membership
fee. To date we shy away from paying the same. We must appreciate that
to-date, we are on this forum because Kigs is magnanimous. To host us
needs a server and this means that some one is incurring costs. Lets
be clear on this one. We can all be on this forum which is interactive
and informative. It has assisted us a lot. But being on this forum
does not mean that we are members of West Nile Foundation. Yes If we
support the Foundation, it may in future sustain the cost of not only
hosting this forum but also its own website. So can we be honourable
and start contributing our membership fees to the Foundation to enable
us execute its objectives.

[WestNileNet] Gaaga accident

2011-01-23 Thread alaka caleb
Some time, last year, we met the owners of the different buses and
discussed the rampant accidents on our route. We then had a meeting
with all the drivers of Gaaga, the owner, and technical staff. The
meeting lasted for almost six hours we made some resolutions, the
drivers gave their view. As a result we had no accidents during the
festive periods. I too was shocked with the news of this accident
which injured 38 people and I think 7 died. As to what happened, I
understand the driver of the bus hit a cow the impact of which swerved
the bus right in front of an approaching lorry. The driver then
swerved back on his side not knowing that the lorry in bid to avoid a
head on collusion decided to cross to the bus's original side and as a
result, the lorry hit the bus tearing through a side.

[WestNileNet] latest report about Entebbe incidence

2011-01-10 Thread alaka caleb
Christine,

Thanks so much for the leadership you exhibited. For long, people have
meted all sorts of oppression on us. I remember an incident some ten
years ago, where some 2 boys from Arua where burnt to death in Bwaise
just because they were suspected to be robbers, yet these boys were
attending evening lectures. The villagers could not understand why
these boys spent the whole day in doors and move out in the evening.
The culprits were sentenced to death. We have to be the voice for our
people since they are voiceless by virtue of excessive poverty, low
self esteem and other historical factors.. Otherwise keep up the
spirit

[WestNileNet] Happy new year

2010-12-31 Thread alaka caleb
This is to wish you a prosperous new year. Take care during this
period. Lets avoid doing anything in excess be it fun, or not. This
year was a foundation and I think we shall start construction of the
building (WNF) from Next year which is tomorrow. If you are to party,
do it knowing that we all need you. Avoid excessive consumption of
alcohol, don't drink and drive, avoid a physical confrontation with
any body despite any provocation. Remember an insult does not create a
wound or a scar on any one and let it pass. Finally, lets forgive each
other for anything we said, uttered or wrote which could have offended
the other. Let 2011 be a new year. Thank you so much.

Re: [WestNileNet] Barifa Land Grabbed/ west nile Golf course in ruins

I talked to some officials of Arua Municipal Council, they are also at
a loss. They do not know what is happening. Even the District Land
Board is perplexed. The District officials are at a loss. Rumour is
that its Tullow oil to which the land has been given. I also
understand that NFA has not de-gazetted the forest and has a
Memorundum of understanding with Arua Municipal Council for the
Municipal Council to use the land upon giving the alternative which
the Municipal Council acquired in Logiri.

As for the resolution, it can just be our consensus on the net. But
let any other person with information share it with us. Remember the
culture of land grabbing is entreching it self in Uganda. It is only
the Acholis who have resisted it, lets see what we can do

Re: [WestNileNet] Sam Ejibua

2010-12-14 Thread alaka caleb
Its a pity that this has happened to Sam. The statistics from Police
show that "iron bar hit men" are on the rise. These thugs way lay
their unsuspecting victims either at the entrance of their homes or at
any dark corner.

By nature of our interactions, we may not avoid moving late at night.
However, it is important that we move in groups. In the event that you
are dropping some one home, ensure that he is within the confines of
his perimeter wall before you take off, and if you are being dropped
don't insist on being dropped very far away from home. Anyway we wish
a quick recovery for Sam and God Bless him

Robert,

No body is clinging to leadership, if anything some of us including
yourself have on several occassions rescued our people in our
capacities as leaders at the expense of almost failing to fuel our
cars. It is not a tea party. What we are just saying is that let
things be done within the framework of the law. Try to register as a
candidate without paying the relevant fees and see if Uganda's
Electoral Commission can accept your nomination or try to vote when
you are not a registered voter and see if you will cast your ballot in
the forth comming Presidential and Parliamentary Elections

[WestNileNet] Fine tuning the Strategic Plan

2010-10-17 Thread alaka caleb
JohnAJackson and Denis Aliga will gather your views on the Draft
Strategic Plan for the Foundation and incorporate them into a final
working document which we shall approve and it will hence become our
strategic plan.I urge all members to consider this phase of our
development as a serious matter. The tendency to be silent while
called to make inputs to such important documents should not be
condoned. Lets not wait to criticize ourselves on our inability to
translate our ideas into what can transform West Nile. Hope we
concentrate on this matter in the next few days so that we prepare to
establish the secretariat. As we await the opening of our account,
lets start saving to contribute our first annual membership fee for
the foundation. This will come after we have agreed on the Strategic
Plan and established a secretariat.

Re: [WestNileNet] Re: My [ENG. AJEDRA ARIDRU] Proposals for What should be the Election issues in West Nile

2010-10-16 Thread alaka caleb
Vasco, you need not apologize, you have just said the truth. Who does
not know that Electricity in West Nile can change the face of the
region. Imagine the creation of an Industrial Park in Bondo, do you
know how many DFI way may get. Investors eying for the greater DRC and
South Sudan Market will shift their Industries to West Nile. We shall
become an Industrial city and who does not know the benefits of being
industrialized. But for the last six years as you rightfully opined,
our Members of Parliament from West Nile have been in a deep slumber.
We had the portfolio and or the docket of Minister of State for
Energy, this Gentleman was a former Managing Director of Uganda
Electricity Board, what did he do. Absolutely nothing. So the
imperative is for our aspiring politicians to know that we are now
organized as the Fourth Estate, the voice of the voice less and an
alternative power block. This is not a threat. Your Executive is
working on a blue print for rolling out the Foundation and We need our
aspiring Politicians to know that failure to deliver will make us to
exercise our recall options in the Constitution. We are not going to
wait for voters to throw them out in their primaries after another
five wasted years. Dr. Gabriel and all the other members of this forum
who are aspiring for Parliamentary Elections, be assured of our
support if and only if you demonstrate that you are pro West Nile. I
am glad that Dr. Aridru is responding to our clarion call. I do not
know what the other aspirants are doing. It is not enough to imagine
that you are canvasing votes in the villages. Be ware that we are now
organized to pull some strings. we are aware that Parties have their
manifestos but we need the candidates to high light what they intend
to do for West Nile. For instance the idea of rebuilding the Arua
Market originated from West Nile Foundation. they did the lobbying and
shared experiences with the Local Leaders in Arua Municipality. The
Mayor Asiki and LC III chairman of Arua Hill Division Mr. Matua and
their council took over the idea and now we are in the process of
having a decent market which will benefit the thousands of our mothers
who work in the market.

Re: [WestNileNet] Meet Investment Banking Expert, Aliga

2010-09-28 Thread alaka caleb
Father,

I saw the interview of Aliga on youtube and wow, out of West Nile good
things are on their way. Do you remember Dr. Ezati's latest elevation?
Now these great guys are showing us the way to go. Lets position our
selves. Milton Anguyo too is strategically positioned. With Jackson,
ourselves in Uganda I mean the Ejiku's, Afema's Ezaga's Okuni's
Draecabo's, Azabo's, Drate's, Alemi's, Anguzu's Adriko Jimmy's
Matenga's Nyakuni's, Opigo's Alaka's Munduru Christine's, Gilia's,
Aridru Gabriel's, Oguzu Lee's, Oguzua's, Hon. Bako's and the rest,
West Nile has a bright future. Lets continue with this spirit of unity
and use the tool of unity, the sky is the limit. Lets avoid intrigue
and in God's name we shall transform West Nile.

[WestNileNet] Successful West Nile Night

2010-09-25 Thread alaka caleb
Members, the West Nile Night of 24th Sept. 2010 was extremely
successful. Members turned up in large numbers in remembrance of our
eight fallen brothers. Members also gave in their contributions for
the forth coming memorial service details of which are going to be
published by our treasurer Mr. Anguzu. We are soon going to inform you
about the date for the memorial service for all the 8 fallen brothers.
Any person who likes to contribute for the cause can get in touch with
Mr. Anguzu.

Back to the night it went well with exhilarating and electric
performances from the artists we invited including our local artists
from Arua. Of recent we have received scathing attacks from some
members about this night. Some have indicated boldly that we are only
good at organizing social functions while others have insinuated by
way of innuendos that we caused the demise of our 8 fallen
brothers.Whereas we have gladly welcomed some of the genuine
criticisms intended to make the night safe and meaningful to all of
us, we feel we have to comment on the uncalled for scathing attacks, I
wish these members could come and witness one of these nights. They
will have no option but to withdraw those statements with apologies.
When it comes to death, it is universal in nature and its only wizards
and sorcerers who organize become jubilant upon the death of any body.
Don't make careless statements albeit under purported concerns which
may make other people draw inferences that you are actually a wizard.
Be constructive in your criticism.

Re: [WestNileNet] WestNile, What Questions are we asking?

2010-09-25 Thread alaka caleb
Dennis, Jackson and Gilbert,

I am moved by this enthusiasm, can our aspiring parliamentarians get
back to us on these issues raised by Dennis Aliga and John A Jackson.

I will in the mean time comment on the aspect of unity. Our Members of
Parliament have been responsible to a greater extent of letting down
our region. Whereas FDC members will be together with their NRM
counter parts in a fund-raising function in Rwampara, Mbarara, ours
will monitor who has reached first and avoid the function. By the way,
what is NRM and FDC to us. First their leaders are all from one part
of the Country, Most of the top guys in these parties were at one time
tight colleagues, they speak the same language. Yes we can by
conviction and in exercise of our fundamental rights and freedoms
choose to belong to any of these parties. But must it make us who all
hail from the same region to become sudden enemies just because we
have chosen this or that party. We forget that our first and foremost
allegiance should be towards our people and our region. We suffered a
lot first from injustices meted on us by history where we were a labor
reserve. then exile, then insurgencies. It is time who ever wants to
go to Parliament on any ticket should know that he or she should be
ready to work with any other person of a different ideological
inclination so long us the issue touches West Nile. Otherwise whether
one is in NRM, DP, FDC, CP, SDP, PPP we are all grasshoppers in a
bottle trying to tear at each others miserable small necks and
attempting to eat each other instead of looking for a common objective
of how to come out of the bottle. People of West Nile and their
leaders regardless of the political and ideological divide are all in
the bottle of underdevelopment and have to work together to come out
of it with unity being the common tool

Jackson,

What you have opined about our members who are flag bearers is
absolutely correct. I know most of them do not have time probably to
read their mails but it is a good Idea for them to share with us on
this forum their unique qualities, capabilities and competences in
terms of the package they intend to offer to our region if elected. We
are not going to shy away from one of our major objectives to make our
leaders accountable. The process begins now. I remember we one time
blindly supported one of our own and when that fella climbed the
pedestal, he became a disaster. He abandoned us and became like the
proverbial stupid bird which climbed an anthill and thought it was not
on the earth. We need to know what these colleagues what to offer. We
know Parties have Manifesto's which candidates follow. Our situation
however is different. Can these members tell us how they can assist us
in our efforts of transforming lives of people of West Nile.

Re: [WestNileNet] Memorial service for our brothers we lost in theNtinda accident

2010-09-08 Thread alaka caleb
We are in the process of getting their photos. So far we have got pp
size photos for three of them, we are trying to get photos for the
other eight. we intend to run the photos in one of our newspapers in
the event we get a date for the service. consultations we have made
indicate that Okuvu Church of Uganda would be ideal. St. Francis and
all saints might not give us the date we need. However, if we agree
that we hold this memorial service as soon as possible as opined by
Ejiku Robert then we shall appoint an adhoc committee to manage the
details including liaising with the parents or guardians, getting the
date, the church, and other issues. Mean while it is only Jackie Aseru
who is still in Hospital, though her condition is not all that bad.
Musa is said to be doing well though I have not yet visited him ever
since he was discharged.

[WestNileNet] No dubious de- registration

2010-06-01 Thread alaka caleb
My, brothers and sisters, no one deals dubiously on this forum. It is
good practice and ethics to find out why certain things happen. As
Milton Anguyo and Jackson opined, the art of diplomacy is so
affordable that we can balance our balance sheet and incur no losses.
Please, lets not judge before listening to the case.

The Idoru's used to own some auditing firm, can't we not task this
audit firm to operate for us some account known as friends of West
Nile so that our collections for this effort go to that account.
Thanks Jackson for the contribution. Afimani has also contributed and
please Anguzu, for the time being you can start the collections as we
chart a way forward. Members please and please, lets for once have an
impact, ceremonial as it may be. lets contribute for our people.

David,

We shall follow up this matter with Hon. Ejua so that he convenes a

the truth especially if it affects us.

My fellow Ladonians, the think tank or Center for reseach and
strategic studies is in the offing. As for the idea of originating a
letter through Hon. Ejua to H.E the President, I think what Ezaga has
opined is a good idea and after all we can even press Ejua to meet us
who are in Kampala. Ladies and Gentlemen. You must appreciate that we
are already a pressure group through this link so lets fight and find
ways of enforcing some of our ideas. Jackson, yes a University needs a
heavy capital investment and thats why a Government funded University
which his H.E Museveni has okayed for us should be followed. Some
influential members of our community on the ground can even meet some
elders like Etima so that this University issue is not washed under
the carpet. Ya we need to develop capacity. For those of us who have
the time, we should continue furthering our education. Who knows we
might be called to serve. As for day, evening, long distance e.t.c it
is all possible as long as the University takes off.

[WestNileNet] FDC fronts Alaka for Godi's seat "Red Pepper"

2009-01-14 Thread alaka caleb
Dear Acidri James , Eng. O. Robert, Father Ruffino, Eng. Okuni and all the Folks

I woke up yesterday to a barrage of phone calls and SMS messages from
foes and friends telling me to read the 2nd Page of a Local tabloid
called the Redpepper. On getting a copy of the said issue, I saw the
Article and perused the same. This was not the first time the
RedPepper guys opined an Artilce linking me to Politics. Gentlemen, I
am cognisant to the fact that with the discovery of the Largest Oil
wells in Amuru and the Assuarences of even larger ones in West Nile,
there exists all the justification for us to start direct
participation in Politics. However, such participation will have to be
well thought out and well planned. Besides, we need some consensus
amongst us as the elites from Arua. It will be myopic for us to
venture into politics without this consensus. Redpepper can write
anything but the onus is on us to agree on who amongst us should be
fronted not only as an M.P but probably as a board member of a certain
Company or for any placements. Wish you a nice day.
