Hi Clint,
I have this conversion on my Elky. Unfortunately I didn't get to
drive it much before the change, so I can't say if it better or not. Based
on the driving I've done lately I can say I'm happy with the results. It
handles quite well (considering it has an all iron big block) com

Thanks for the input,Dave. From what I've read, the

Brad,I really don't plan to drive my Elky on a
roadcourse so the conversion will probably come down to if I have the extra
funds when I purchase the Baer brake kit. Baer offers a taller spindle
set-up with their brake packages.

Hi Guys,
I missed the earlier thread about the tall spindle set up, but will add my $.02 anyway.
I have a 65 elky and I used tall spindles from a 78 buick wagon along with the l1e iroc z 12" rotors. I also used a complete global west suspension set up front and rear. I replaced the 9" drum
Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I guess I'm going
to do a lot more research before I make any decisions about the taller spindle
set-up.

How much steering lock-to-lock did you lose in the
conversion,Dave? What are the effects of the increased bumpsteer of the
conversion? What was the condition of your suspension system on your '70 when
you performed the conversion? What is the condition of your suspension on your

Clint,
There are a few that have done it that
lurk at Team Chevelle in the Brakes & Suspension forum. They swear by the tall spindle theory but I
don’t know if that’s just a side effect of getting 12” brakes
or not. With my 13” BOLT-ON-TO-STOCK-SPINDLES
Baer system and the 17” Nitto
