I was surprised to see a fairly large group of White-throated Swifts flying
just above a razor-backed ridge on the far west end of Canon City today.
They are commonly in the Royal Gorge canyon and I do see them at the mouth
of that canyon (where Tunnel Drive trail is located). They put on a nice

Greetings All,
Jackson Reservoir was a stunning experience today, yielding 101 species and
nearly 20,000 indviduals. The shorebird list was 17, headed by 2 AMERICAN

Birding east from Sterling this morning, I was in Haxtun by 7:30; but I think
it was too early for insects to have warmed up, so I "buggered off". Even the
sewage ponds were uninteresting.
Frenchman's Creek was good. On the west side right by the parking area there

I saw the Little Blue Heron this morning at the west end of the pond west
of the parking lot and south of the bike path along Clear Creek(Adams Co).
This pond is not part of Lowell Ponds SWA, but is connected to Carl Park up
on the bluff.

Beautiful day to be out, but the slowest bird day so far this season.

Song Sparr
Not unexpectedly yesterday, Mary Burger and I did not find Glenn's and
Loch's "cold front" good birds at Chatfield and Cherry Creek. We were one
day too late! But we did find a Solitary Sandpiper at the little wetland on
the NE corner of Cherry Creek. Amazingly when I entered the list into

Hello, fellow birders.
The inclement weather brought hordes of birds to our yard Wednesday--and among

RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH Today, Sat, 9/15/12 A 1st for me. I've seen Pygmy
Nuthatches in yard at mealworm feeder, but NEVER a Red-Breasted. I was
deep-watering my trees; saw a sudden movement, and wah-lah, the Red-breasted
Nuthatch joined me for a drink of precious water. Wow. Bonnie BoexDil
All,
At 10:30 this morning, there was a juvenile Sabine's Gull on the south
shore of Sixmile Reservoir, which is just south of Boulder Reservoir.
Sixmile is private, but can be scoped from the south end of Boulder Res.
The bird was mostly walking on the shore among the Ring-billed and

COBirders,
Sorry about that. I didn't quite realize that would happen.
Anyway, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird has returned this morning and has

Yesterday I reported a Nashville Warbler near Children's Hospital in Aurora.
A second birder found a a female MacGillivray’s Warbler in the same area
later that day and emailed me. I can see my errors in reporting a Nashville
Warbler when looking at photos of the female MacGillivray’s.
