Thanks.
I was curious if the screw kit Elecraft provides is just for cover screws.
They are working on a SS kit for the KPA 500 too.
The cost for 100 screws has shown there is no reason other than profit
not to include SS hardware with the kits from the start.

Yes. It allows quite a bit of flexibility. If the amp is in standby
the radio can be set to 100w out. When the amp is in OPER mode the
radio will lower the power to the output of your choosing.

I guess I will have to check my speakers. This is a warning that should be
in bold in the manual.

I had a pair of FT-2000's with matching speakers. I sold the 2000's and
kept the speakers. They work pretty well.

You can ship the radio back and have Elecraft check it out. If it is a
board problem I believe they will take care of it for you.

We all have to do our part to reduce carbon emissions or so I am told.
Electric eels could be the answer.
The fish in question may be electric eels. Perhaps Elecraft is
investigating new and innovative power sources for portable operation.

was on April 1st Then the thread turned to a fish fry. Walleye for me

I have seen rfi issues with the QC2 and the Heil noise cancelling headsets.
A couple of turns through a snap on fixed that. Neither are great at random
shack noises but both seemed to work very well on fixed sounds like fans. I

I have a pair and love them!

I just wanted to point out that Wayne is responding to my questions well
into the night.
Thanks Wayne and the entire Elecraft gang!
These folks understand customer service and putting the customer first.
Now get some rest! HI!

Actually that would not work either.
The PR6 is turned on by using the RX Ant button while on 6m.
The only way I see to make this work is by having the main vfo on the 6m
Freq and the sub on the lower band.
I have the pr6 but have yet to hook it up. I will be curious to see other
replies.

When you set up the 2nd receiver there was a choice to use the 2nd antenna
on the KAT or the Aux input and install the cable. There is also a menu
choice you can make. Set it to Ant2 not aux.

You have to go into the registry and change a value. I am sure someone just
posted that link. If not Google it. I just went through this with XP home

I assume you have activated them for proper modes and entered the proper
offsets. You can do this with the K3 utility and your computer or via the
menu system.

Have you calibrated it with a known source? Elecraft makes a nice signal
generator kit that works great for this. You do need to enter the gain on
the 5 pole filters. They are negative numbers so that might change things.
Do you happen to have the pre amp on. It is generally not needed on 20-1
déjà vu all over again.
I have worked Japan on my oil filled dummy load on 10m during the peak.
That does not equate to a great antenna. You can tune just about anything
does that mean it is a great or efficient radiator, no. If it is the best
you got great. If you were using an ISOLOOP su
We just had a heated exchange about these antennas on another reflector.
Keep in mind that it is a compromise antenna. 43 feet is really not magical
to any band that I know of. You still need a good radial system etc.

The radio defaulted to AFSK or so I thought. Not sure what the Wayne told
you as he did not post it to the list. :)

It is also unclear what the real purpose is for the rx ant out. From what I
have been told if I want to share my rx antennas with the two receivers then
I should use a T or splitter and go to each input separately.
I would think that RX Ant Out would allow you to take the RX antenna to

Recommended frequency of 14.275??
Might want to change that as that frequency is a mess. Might save some poor
guy a tongue lashing by the "owners" of that frequency.
Good luck to all. I think I will get on in a bit and hand out some
contacts.
