I like to keep all my versions separate also.
Later versions of the utility will create a directory for you. In the "Local
folder
for Firmware" box, just type it in, or browse to your location, then add the
\dirname. After the first time, all you have to change is the dirname.

OK, that will work for me. I like to be in charge of what I download and
where I put it so I don't like to use the utility's automatic update
feature. I have a subfolder for every version I have ever downloaded from
Elecraft, each with a shortcut to the utility. It would be nice if Elecraft

4.05. I find a zip for 4.03 and it looks like if I download that and replace
hmcu403.hex with hmcu405.hex and the release notes file, I should be all

You must leave CONFIG: VFO MD set to SPI1 (default) until after the K3
VFO Noise Reduction Mod has been installed.
That mod is not difficult - just 2 diodes and 2 resistors (all leaded
parts).

I was able to download the latest production software using the latest
K3 utility version 1.2.10.27:
Start the K3 utility with the K3 connected.
Press the default button to change the window to to the original
location (it had been set to my beta folder).
Check the box for copy new files from El
"Internet" applet that has similar ability.

operating QSK and subRX together. I've been working DXpeditions split for

cache shouldn't be necessary as I think I tried to select options to
bypass local cache.
Clearing the cache may not do what you are trying to do unless you use
IE for this cache clearing step. Not all browsers use WinInet.

find a folder called "beta". Download the folder, or if you don't want the
release notes, just download the zip file. Expand it. Browse to it in Utility
and go for broke.

owners upgrade to it at their convenience.
