did you check SetupGeneralOptions and see if All Mode Mic PTT is enabled.
Mine doesn't want to 'stay' enabled.
I have to check this frequently.

Hi All,
I got my 120' tower and MonStir up. Lots of pictures at
http://www.exothink.com/HR/.
Click on 'M46 Tower Project' and 'MonStir'.
Tower is an Andrew M46, four foot on a side, 120 ft high
Antenna is a SteppIR MonStir, 42 ft boom with 70 ft elements. Three elements
Yes, it stays checked.
Nothing anywhere in the setup changes.
I just set it on a frequency and toggle between
lsb and cwl, then break in or ptt don't work anymore.

I can't duplicate this.
I've tried a number of times.
Although I read of someone else with a similar problem
how does your ptt get it's commands?
Is it a 'virtual port'?
Or is it a hardwire ptt button or footswitch?
What version firmware and driver?

I had the problem on my 5000 and then thought I had it licked when I
installed the latest firmware. It worked perfectly one time, but it failed
after that attempt.
My Heil foot pedal will activate MOX and I do transmit, but I can't turn
transmit off. Clicking on MOX with the mouse doesn't do
I see a new version of the 5000 firmware 0.1.1.3 was released the other day.
What changes have been made?

I'm using the Flex 1000
The ptt and keyer are hard wired to the radio.
I'm not using com ports for keying, but
I have no problem with the com ports, the logging
programs track no problem.
I imagine this is peculiar to the 1000.
I haven't tried yet to see which version of svn below the current is
I mention the Eq Plus because it's a fine piece of equipment that I've used
for years. My EV 27 doesn't properly drive the 5000. even with the Eq on
board. The Eq Plus brings it alive and I have unsolicited raves on the
audio. I have done as you asked it works fine with the switch at the
SVN Log shows multiple CW bug fixes/tweaks on SVN1731.
Chances are between that, and 1738, something broke.
Just a guess...

This sounds like rf problems.
I'd test this into a dummy load at minimum power
and gradually increase
then repeat using antenna
I have a rfi ptt problem I've yet to solve...but working on it.

No it's not rfi,
I haven't transmitted, just switching modes shuts off break in and ptt,
therefore I can't transmit.

This is likely all related;
As of svn 1738 break-in on cw ceases to function unless the VAC button
is selected and then de-selected, or the console is powered off/on. The
radio works for a short period and then spontaneously quits transmitting
(no t/r). Eric's been working on this over the last
I've made up the gizmo to activate my Icom AH-4 tuner by pressing a
button while clicking the TUN button in PowerSDR. It works, but I just
noticed Feature Request #726, in which almost a year ago F1HDI requested:
Support of ICOM ATU with a compatible 4pin connectors and
Tune/start/stop Hw
Due to the fact that it is not present in earlier SVN versions
it is probably a bug, and I have submitted it as such.
By the way my keyer (Microham CW Keyer) is plugged
directly into the Flex key jack, and I do not have iambic mode enabled.

I am also having trouble with PTT, but exclusively on phone.
This is with my shiny new Heil Microphone purchased from Flex. I have
never gotten SSB (or AM) to work with my Flex 5000 -- the microphone was
purchased to get it going.
At first I thought the Mic might have a problem.
So, I took
I'm having a similar problem just using the internal CWX keyer. Works once
after starting or after
VAC On/Off then stops. Makes for short QSO's... Worked fine this morning on

that was before updating to 1738. I'll just listen for a while!

Due to the fact
Upon further investigation I have found that any change (ie: change
power, push another button) on the console
will disable break in ptt when in cw mode.
Also the power output is always full power no mater what the console is
set at in cw, which sucks if you run an amp.
Stop the console and
could be causing this and how can I correct/diagnose the problem?
Thanks,

I've followed this thread. But I don't have any of the symptons mentioned
here. I mainly been using it on CW and haven't noticed any break-in issues.
I've don't have any PTT problems either.
I am using SVN 1737 with the latest firmware 0.1.1.3. Hope I don't start to
experience the bug you guys

It appears to be a Flex 1000 issue only.
SVN version 1730 and earlier are OK.
It breaks in 1731.

One possiblity could be spurious tones caused by mixing with DDS spurs - if
you turn off Spur Reduction (the 'SR' button), do the extraneous tones
change frequency or disappear? Do they change as xmit frequency changes?
Also, if you can listen to the line-out audio, do you hear multi-tones there
is typical, or if I need to do some system tweaks.
