Yes, the fine tuning is done by ear. However, I use the mouse wheel for
that. When operating SSB, I can click on a signal, quickly right-click to
turn off the crosshairs, and then use the mouse wheel for fine adjustment of
the frequency. In CW or digital modes, I expand the Panadapter to

Hooked up the Griffin PowerMater tonight so I could have a "fine tune"
control for my left hand while I'm sending CW with my right hand.
The PowerMate is working OK, but it seems to be experiencing some latency
issues. I do not have that with my mouse wheel.

I should have provided more detail in my original post. I found that
the manual way of installing the device and its device driver (as per
the instructions on the Griffin Technology page) was the only way I
could get it to work correctly.
