Hello everyone,
Has anyone any experiences (really want to know about the bad ones) of
printing to the HP Colour Laserjet 8550 series of printers. My authority is
considering purchasing one.
Many Thanks

Hi,
I've seen almost an identical post before, but no concrete answer was given.
We have two raster images which we need to merge into one image, with one image set at
50% translucency. I then want to export this one tab/raster file into a third party
software package. Does anyone have a idea
Hi both,
If what you're looking for is cosmetically better looking maps, you are able to apply
several work-arounds / tricks in MIPro to upgrade the appearance.
Primarily you can insert the same layer several times in a mapper, and manipulate the
display properties, possibly combined with
Marie,
We have absolutely no problems with ours at all and the finished product is
actually very nice.

I have had this problem when plotting over registered OS raster maps that
are resisted ok. The problem occurs when you digitise at a zoomed in scale
and then zoom out, the lines digitised shift as you describe. This can
sometimes be avoided by digitising in a table rather than on the cosmetic
Hi gurus
A simple problem I hope, I recently upgraded to 7.0 from 6.5, no problem.
Then I got a new PC so installed 7.0 on it and removed all MapInfo from the
old one. Now on the new one some of the symbol fonts I used are missing
e.g. MapInfo weather. There are other installations of MI 6.5 on

Using a shifted line style won't work, since there's no restriction on the
direction of a polygon border line. It might run either way around the
polygon, rendering it impossible to know which side of the line is
inside and which is outside. That applies

It seems to be a fairly common problem and one which I have to live with. I
do however accept that there has to be a fudge factor when carrying out an
excercise like this. A variation of 1 or 2 pixels visually not really and

I sent my Plotter Printing problems to MapInfo and here is the response that
I received from them. Maybe it will help somebody else. I had to talk to

Hi everyone,
I seem to have something weird happening to me and my co-worker. We have a workspace

Hi Brendan,
You can just copy the TTF files to your machine, and install them by thru Control

The TTF files are located in c:\windows\fonts\ on my Win98. Not sure about W2K etc.

Greetings All:
About a year ago I visited you with the topic of getting MapInfo maps into Quark. No
truly useful answer was forthcoming.
Now, I have the additional challenge of getting my maps into Quark on a MAC.
Anybody have ANY success stories on this topic, or even somewhat related

Bob,
Have you tried printing to a file using a PostScript print driver ? I don't know whether it will have similar problems to the PDFs, though (with other software e.g. EMME/2 and ENIF) does not usually mess up as with WMFs.
Hi all,
I'm having problems translating ESRI files (of Chicago census tracts) into
MapInfo. I'm mainly concerned with the shape file, although none of them
seem to work out.
Here is what I have attempted so far:

Hi,
We bought a MapX5 recently.
I am trying to use the IsPointVisible method, however it comes back
with true all the time (and sometimes false all the times).
No matter what coordinates I am tring to evaluate with it.
The map used is in non-earth /meter/ coordsys.
Any ideas how to get it
I'm not sure what the error message means, but one thing i always
try if the UT fails to convert to a .TAB file, is to convert to
a .MIF and then import the .MIF to a .TAB.

One should consider that an image has a fixed resolution. You have
perfect alignment between image and vectors when you are at 100% zoom,
so that you are seeing every pixel along a line in the image. When you
zoom in or out of the image, you are either dropping some pixels in the
image or
Hi again,
Thanks to all of you, I was able to successfully import the file utilizing a
tool called shape.mbx which read the files immediately (Thanks Ross).
Thanks for everyones prompt assistance!

Hello all,
Does anyone know the proper format to use to include the BC Albers in
MapInfo projection file? I am importing and E00 and the projection is not
available as a choice.
The projection is Albers Equal Area Conic, with parameters of :
Central meridian: -126.0 (126:00:00 West longitude)
You can edit the mapinfo.prj file in a text editor, which is located in
your Mapinfo program directory. Before you edit, save a copy of your
current prj file just in case you make an error. The Mapinfo manual
describes how to write the parameters in the new projection line.
Hope that helps a
I am looking for demographic and business location data for Puerto Rico.
Anybody have any suggestions? I downloaded what I could from the census,
but have not been able to find any point data for businesses and shopping
centers.
Add this line to your mapinfo.prj file.
ALBERS British Columbia NAD83, 9, 74, 7, -126, 45, 50, 58.5, 100, 0
I suggest you learn how to edit the prj file... it is quite useful. It is
well explained in the MapInfo Reference Guide.

Hi,
I am a newbie to this group but an ardent user of MapInfo products.
I have been using StreetPro data for sometime and came across this question.
What is the GPS accuracy of the data that we get through MapInfo's StreetPro
Display?
I am just interested in the accuracy range.
Thanks

Following on from my previous post, the error message that MapInfo could not

that this will cause unexpected
