Confirmed both the bug and the work around. I usually encountered the
gpm bug when shutting down and I would get a program not responding
error. After implementing the work around it shuts down normally now.

Using 8.04 I managed my iPod using amarok. I had the eject command
tweaked to allow non-root user. At 8.10 this does not work anymore,
amarok fails to eject. So I switch to my desktop and right-click the
icon. This works, though results in error message above.

I have been following this bug since a very similar thing has happened to me.
I'm running Kubuntu Hardy Heron with all updates applied. Kernel 2.6.24-21 is
in place. As recently as 2 - 3 weeks ago I was able to burn cd's and dvd's
with no problem. Could play dvd's that I burned, didn't try com

I am having a similar problem as well. Totem and Rhythmbox does not work
in 8.04. I get "Playback Error Failure to create stream: (null)" I did
a clean install of 8.04 rather then upgrade.

I got similar behaviour. Same system & java version.
When I open an applet it is shown correct. Then after reloading or opening a
new applet/java-window it is most times grey (sometimes its shown normal).

I'm experiencing the same problem. I can get to the start page
(http://localhost/ocsreports) which drops me into an authentication page
that is looking for a db login/password/host which will then run the
"OCS Reports Setup" which I assume will set up the database. No matter
what I put in for login

There are two authentications that go on here. The first is for MySQL on
your server and that is the one with the pretty web interface you see in

I can tell you how to reproduce it easily: It has todo with the
filesize.
Try to copy a file which is larger than 4.X GB and the CPU usage bumps
up to > 90%.
I can safely reproduce it. Leech a file (lets say 5 GB) - CPU usage 90%. Stop
it - CPU usage normal. Restart it CPU usage 90%.

As a follow-on, I was able to install the debian solr 1.3 packages on
top of the new Karmic tomcat 6.0.20 packages. So far everything appears
to be working great.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the problem arises ONLY after the
mentioned amount of somewhere around 4,4 GB were written. Before that
point everything is fine. But as the file grows, the CPU usage suddenly
jumps up.

I tried to look into this one and it seems like it originates from
jockey/ui.py line 622:
self.error_message('', str(e).splitlines()[-1])
This is supposed to catch a generic SystemError and should probably read
something like
self.error_message(self.string_error, str(e))

I upgraded to Edgy, and the problem is fixed with the new kernel or
acpi-support, whatever the problem was in...
Just thought I'd let you know for people having the same problem in
Dapper.
