As a deaf man my self I do really appreciate this and I will be

Ubuntu UK Podcast into plain text format?
It doesn't need to be one person doing every episode, but each person
could pick one ep, and do that, and then do another when they have time.

I transcribed most of the Ubuntu Screencasts subtitles and as a guide it
took me around 4-5 hours for a 30 min video. Granted, I'm not a fast
typist and each line had to be sync'ed with the video/audio properly
afterwards, so I'm sure this project will be much quicker.

I use VirtualBox to do exactly that in Ubuntu, as far as I know it is
also available for Windows. One thing to note is the NON open source edition
is the one that allows you to share usb devices between the host and guest.

IIRC, people talk at a rate in the order of 300-350 words a minute.
